THREAD: So here’s what went down in #Goa after Sunday’s #JanataCurfew that was put in place by the Centre as a trial run to the #CoronavirusLockdown.

Without notice, on March 22 itself, @goacm announced that the state govt would be extending the curfew by three more days. (1)
We are informed that there is no need to panic, as groceries and other essential services wouldn’t be impacted. The only difference being that instead of staying open all day, grocery stores would now be open only from 6am to 11am. That was the first bad move. (2)
The very next morning, people thronged to the stores. Because stores were open for such a small window of time, everyone was out trying to get supplies at the same time. Many opted to hoard, while many others chose to be responsible citizens and buy only what was needed. (3).
Pictures and videos of crowded stores starting making the rounds of WhatsApp groups and social media sites, and news probably got to the CM at this point. Here’s where he made his second big mistake. (4)
Yet again, without notice, the CM makes an announcement bound to cause panic. Grocery stores will be shut until further notice. “I’m sure everyone is stocked up”, is the assumption (Narrator: Everyone was *not* stocked up). (5)
Many didn’t go out that morning due to a variety of reasons, the most important one being to avoid crowds and maintain social distancing. Important also to remember is the fact that we were told not to panic buy. That essentials would be available. And suddenly, no groceries. (6)
CM says they *will* put a door-to-door delivery system in place. Every day (from March 23 to today), we keep getting leads about stores that have been supposedly been granted permission to start home deliveries. Except, the phone numbers don’t work. All switched off. (7)
People are in full blown panic mode now. Many of us have enough to last a couple of days, but what of the daily wagers? They’re being beaten up by cops for being out on the streets and violating curfew when all they want is to find themselves a meal. (8)
Today, an advocate files a petition before the High Court, staring that there is a scarcity of essential commodities and a lack of a mechanism to provide daily wagers with food. This is when the Govt of Goa is forced to acknowledge ground reality. (9)
And now, the grand finale! @DrPramodPSawant declares that grocery shops will be allowed to stay open all day starting March 27. But — and this is important — he makes it a point to blame Goans for this. Don’t hold the government responsible if COVID spreads, he says. (10)
But sir, it *IS* your problem. Tomorrow, the crowds will be larger and hard to control. You & your indecisive government have put us all in danger. With the inability to formulate a clear plan and forge ahead with it. With causing panic. If people die, it’s on you. The end. (11)
Hi @DrPramodPSawant @goacm. You’re leaving your citizens to die. You needed to show clarity of thought. Instead, you behaved like a child and threw a tantrum about how PeOpLe dOn’T LiStEn. It’s *your job* to make them. Act like the CM and pull up your bloody socks!
