Once, when Krishna was praising Karna's generosity to Arjuna, Arjuna got flustered at the praise lavished on someone, who according to them, was just the son of a Charioteer. Arjuna, asks Krishna, on how his elder brother, Yudhishtir, is inferior to Karna, in terms of Charity.

So Krishna decided to give him a demo. Both him and Arjuna, disguise themselves as Brahmins, and go to the House of Yudhishtir, on a particularly Rainy day. They then ask him for some dry Sandalwood, to do a yagna.

Yudhishtir, receives them with all the warmth and sends Soldiers in all directions to get the Sandalwood. However, everyone returns saying that all the Sandalwood they found, was wet, as it had rained

Yudhishtir, expresses his sorrow at not helping the Brahmins. So they walk out

Arjuna tells Krishna that the task is ridiculous and cannot be done. So Krishna takes him to Karna's place.

They make the same demand, and Karna's soldiers tell him the same answer. Arjuna is elated, thinking that there is no difference between Karna and his own elder brother.

At which moment, Karna takes an axe, starts chopping his own furniture and Doors, which are made of Sandalwood and gives them to Krishna and Arjuna. He says, "Nobody can go back empty handed from my house".

Arjuna accepts his defeat.

Now why I am telling this story. It is because, today, the President of USA asked us, India, to supply Hydroxychloroquine, an important medicine in this fight against Covid 19.

India, first and foremost, has to look after itself first, there is no doubt about it.

But it also has to remember that, we are the Land of Dharma and Karna and we as a country do our level best to help out others in need.

Because that is our ethos. Because that is what Karna taught us.

India did follow its Dharma. The Dharma laid down by our ancestors.
