Referenced my Big Board for value (linked again below w/ my other #NFLDraft content)
A (6) = Great - great player & fit
B (5) = Good - would've done it differently
C (5) = Reach / Left value on the board
D (6) = Come again? ... Why.
F (5) = See gif👇
Again, obvious. My 2nd best player at 2nd overall. #Redskins front 7 is going to be elite. Now, help your QB.
Great player & fit, but I have to think the #Lions could've trade to 5 & still picked Okudah or Simmons + more picks. Results in slight ding from A to B.
My 11th overall player & OT2. Would've gone Simmons, & def Wirfs over Thomas here. But alas, Thomas is going to be great for the #Giants.
Our 1st A+. #Dolphins got QB2 at 5th overall w/o a trade up. Well done.
Herbert is my 23rd overall player & QB4, so I'm not a fan of this pick by the #Chargers. Doesn't completely flunk bc of the need & positional value of QB. But yes, I would've taken Hurts if I was taking a QB here.
Brown is not a bad player. He's 18th overall & my iDL2. But the #Panthers passed on Simmons (1st) & Kinlaw (10th) in favor of a worse player.
Simple justification for D: Kinlaw is an elite pass rusher inside. Brown is not. Pass rush matters.
My top rated class from 2019, #Cardinals are off to a HOT start.
Simmons is an other-worldly prospect, my 1st overall player. Nothing more to say here other than congratulations, Cardinals Nation.
Exactly what the #Jaguars needed & a fine value (12th overall). Henderson helps fill their nearly-empty CB room w/ a lot of speed & talent.
#Browns get slightly dinged for the following:
*Wirfs (OT1, 6th) is a better player
*Needed a LT, Wills plays RT (Wirfs proved capable at both)
*Needed a Pass-Protector - Wills more Run-Blocker rn
Still, solid overall pick. Many people's OT1.
Like any of these, I could end up wrong on this one. But the #Jets landed the riskiest of the Top-4 OTs in Becton (OT4, 16th) w/ the best (Wirfs, OT1, 6th) still available. Ew.
Not to mention WRs Lamb (7th) & Jeudy (8th) were still available.
Gruden, Mayock & the #Raiders get the best speed in 2020. They did not, however, get the best WR.
WRs Lamb (7th) & Jeudy (8th) were still available when Ruggs (WR3, 19th) was taken. This one will be critiqued for years to come. We'll see...
Finally, his slide ends. My 6th overall player & probably the best OT prospect I've seen in years, #Buccaneers traded up 1 pick to get him. He's worth it. Tremendous value.
#49ers get a free pick to move back a spot & get a solid value. JK is the best interior DL in the Draft to plug that hole in the middle of their D. Lights out pick.
Moved down from A+ range just because he's WR2 vs Lamb who was still available, but that's a nitpick. Awesome talent at great value for the #Broncos.
Our first F. What the #Falcons did was so foolish.
*Need based approach, passing on Lamb (7th). OK... Strike 1.
*Did NOT take Kristian Fulton (CB3, 13th). 2.
*Passed on trade back w/ PHI to 1.21. 3.
*They reached on AJT - HARD (41st). Get out.
This really made cringe. #Dolphins did the right thing going OT here. They took the wrong one w/ Jackson (55th).
Josh Jones (OT5, 24th) & Ezra Cleveland (OT6, 25th) are both still available. The value pick would've been Fulton still (13th).
I prefer other EDGEs to KLC & this was too high for him in my opinion (35th). BUT, the #Jaguars get a CB1 & have another speedy EDGE opposite Josh Allen. Defense starting to look good again.
Initially an A, #Eagles *just* miss out on that bc, sticking to my Board, there are better picks at other positions of need. This is a perfect fit though.
(psst - great F'in pick Philly, you got a good one)
#Vikings predictably land their Stefon Diggs replacement, getting a high floor WR in JJeff. I would've gone Shenault or addressed CB right now, though.
#Chargers reached back up into the 1st to land 33rd overall. Murray is super athletic, but so is, idk, PATRICK QUEEN (LB2). Would've been a stellar fit - great athleticism & coverage ability to solidify the middle of the D.
Instead, it's a C.
I don't hate this pick as much as the D suggests, but come ON #49ers!
#TheShenaultimateWeapon (it will catch on - watch) is on the board, WR4 & 21st overall, but they opt to *trade up* for my 52nd overall player bc #longarms #yac. Not a fan.
Tried & failed to trade back, the #Seahawks shot from the hip & took ~their top player~ despite not talking to Brooks since the Combine.
I like going for value, but this ain't it - 87th overall. Queen (LB2, 29th) still on the board...
Leave it to the #Ravens to make a predictably awesome pick at the end of Day 1. Perfect fit, great player - LB2, 28th.
Gets the bump up to A+ bc, well, somehow they nab LB2 as the 4th LB taken. Future star, right here.
Even though he's 56th & great OT prospects are still available, #Titans avoid an F bc:
*11 spots after A Jackson (55th) drafted
*fit is actually really nice
*need at RT & trench-focused team
Not a fan & bad value still.
RIP, #Dolphins.
After an A+ start, back2back Fs.
At least they're at the right positions? Also traded back. Phins fans just have to hope I'm wrong on these players.
R1 picks:
5 - Tua (4th) A+
18 - Jackson (55th) F
30 - Igbin... (90th) F
#Vikings saved from an F thanks to their trade back that can help them land Trent Williams.
Gladney (67th, CB8) is not only a reach but ignores stellar value still on the board, even at CB (Fulton, CB3, 13th).
Fit-wise, #Chiefs nailed it. I have no doubt this will be a great match.
Value-wise? Tanked.
Cheap 5th yr option helps, but R1 RB is a mistake. Could've taken S (X McK 17th, Delpit 26th), Fulton (13th) or Laviska (21st).
Instead, 72nd & RB
