--Thread on Vali & Shambuka Vadham in Ramayana--

This month marks reestablishment of the Lord at Ayodhya. City's name is that which cannot be won by conquest but can be conquered by the love of his devotees+

Lord Rama is hailed by Brahma as “bhavannārāyaṇo deva:” You verily are the Lord Nārāyaṇa. He is the Supreme Brahman of Vedas, hailed as “aham vedmi mahātmānam rāmam satya-parākramam” by Viśvāmitra, in a parallel to “vedāhamedhaṃ puruṣam mahāntam” of puruṣa sūkta.+

In the mahābhārata, it is said, niḥsaṃśayeṣu sarveṣu nityaṃ vasati vai hariḥ sasaṃśayān hetubalān nādhyāvasati mādhavaḥ+

Hari, who destroys karmas (harati pāpāni), resides ever in those who have dispelled doubts. Mādhava, Master of Knowledge about himself (mā = knowledge of Hari, dhava = swami), never resides in those plagued by doubt due to force of false argumentation

We will look at 4 incidents – Vāli Vadham, Sambūka Vadham, Banishment of Sīta and agni parikṣā, how each of them have delightful inner meanings and bring out absolute supremacy of the Lord+

First, vāli vadham. Facts: Vāli was stronger than Rāvaṇa and had dominated the latter. Sugrīva was weaker than Rāvaṇa. Rāma showed Sugrīva he was stronger than Vāli by uprooting 7 trees to Vāli’s 1.+

Why then, did Rāma befriend weak Sugrīva, to defeat strong Vāli, to gain weak Sugrīva’s help, to defeat middling Rāvaṇa who was weaker than Vāli but stronger than Sugrīva?+

Is there any need for Rāma to hide here? Does it matter if he hid or not? Do you not understand the incredible leela of the Lord?+

Having justified the literal act by above inconsistencies, the attached screenshot expands on the inner meanings and also shows why Rāma killed Vali in hiding with some choice Shlokās+👇

Moving on, Let us talk about Sambūka now. He was performing penances to attain devaloka. His penances were inadvertently harmful as it caused death,
which Nārada attributes to his ignorance of the right means (durbuddhi)+

Sambūka himself recognizes Lord as the Supreme Being and makes the prayer - devatvaṃ prārthaye rāma saśarīro mahāyaśaḥ – O Rāma, who has fame of granting all desires! I yearn for devatva with this body itself. Note “with this body
(saśarīro)”+

#RamMandir #Ramayana #Ayodhya
Rather than interpreting it as “I want to attain devaloka with this body”, it
means, “I want to attain devaloka by association of this body, ie, I don’t want another higher birth as a brāhmaṇa or kṣatriya. I want to attain devaloka after a śūdra birth straightway+

#Ramayana
Brāhmaṇa or Kṣatriya have to perform upāsaṇa to attain devaloka. Since Sambūka did not have this birth, the Lord himself stood in the place of the upāsaṇa and gave that phalan to Sambūka. The text says he attained devaloka+
#AyodhyaRamMandir #जयश्रीराम #Ramayana #Bhumipujan
A brāhmaṇa or kṣatriya must die at completion of upāsaṇa to attain devaloka. Sambūka’s “upāsaṇa” was rāmānugrahaṃ, and he died to attain devaloka. Everyone has to die for it, and it is blessed to die at the hands of the Lord+

This justifies the literal act of killing Sambūka. It was what he himself wanted. Inner meaning: Sambūka represents the mind wallowing in lust. Attached screenshot gives the inner meaning of the incident👇+

In a separate thread that would be the concluding part 2 of this discussion, I will explain the other 2 incidents, viz., Sita's banishment and Agni Parikṣā.//
