1. Some 🇬🇧 politicians assert that the #China-#UK #GoldenEra relationship is a failure citing the UK (goods) trade deficit with #China in 2019. On that basis, they call for a “reset” of the relationship.

2. 🇨🇳🇬🇧 relationship is multifaceted. It compasses more than trade (goods or services). Drawing a conclusion on the basis of one aspect of that relationship only is one-sided and methodologically wrong.

3. In the past 20 years, from 1999 to 2020, #UK #exports to #China increased twenty times.

According to a recent report by China-Britain Business Council, British exports to China supported 90,000 to 115,000 full-time jobs. @cbbc

4. In the past 10 years, Chinese investment increased 20 times.

Btw 2012 & 2017, #Huawe invested 2 billion British pounds, supporting 26,000 jobs. Early 2018, it pledged to invest another 3 billion pounds in the 5 years starting 2018. More than 1 billion has already happened.

5. #China Hebei #Jingye Group acquired #BritishSteel in March 2020, keeping 3200 jobs and pledge to invest 1.2 billion pounds in the next 10 years to upgrade British Steel. @BritishSteelUK

6. The UK is the largest recipient of Chinese students in #Europe.

While benefiting from studying here, they have also made contributed to this country.

According to a #Cambridge study, the students' expenditure alone, supported 17,000 jobs in 2018.

7. Chinese companies are working together with its 🇫🇷🇬🇧 partners on #nuclear projects. They will help the UK to achieve its goal of zero-emission by 2050.

China General Nuclear has invested 3.8 billion pounds in #HinkleyPoint C, creating hundreds of jobs.

8. I sincerely hope that the British politicians will look at the #China-#UK relationship from an objective perspective and from all aspects, not merely from the trading of goods while #UK’s strength is in services.

This is a comprehensive and win-win relationship, the deepening of which is in the interests of both countries and peoples.

It is right that the 🇬🇧 government didn't support a full reset and call for a positive, constructive, mature relationship.
