Seeing many verbatim #MSM talking points proffered by #consumers regarding #freethinkers & #truthseekers, lately. We can only go on what we observe & verify. The media continues to do great disservice to usnot exploring the topics that people are questioning & seeking truth on.
Many people are strongly influenced by #CorporateMedia. To the extent that even a compilation video of examples of their cookie cutter model of “journalism” wouldn’t make them say, “Hmmm...” They’ve found a way to take our most proven citations and turn those into #theories.
They count on us not thinking for ourselves. Before I took the step to #WalkAway, I only read/listened to left-leaning media along with AP, Reuter’s & NPR. I read Rolling Stone & Cosmo. I had a “Bush Is Sauron, Save The Shire” t shirt. I voted Blue down every ballot.
The sources I listened to were only presenting one side. Living in a small city in #NewEngland, not many questioned the narrative. I didn’t know I was in an echo chamber. It wasn’t until I moved to Florida & started listening to #TalkRadio that my perspective was challenged.
I listened to @marklevinshow, @RushLimbaughEIB , & @JoyceKaufman. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It didn’t take long to realize that I was being told something completely different by the media, but more so that I was cheating myself by not listening to both sides and
in turn, making an informed, self guided decision on where I stood. How could I have been so foolish and naive? Admittedly, #Obama invading Syria was the last straw for me. The Liberal in me could not ascertain why we were indiscriminately drone bombing 7 countries.
TalkRadio was a breath of fresh air. There were other people critically thinking about the direction of our country & a lot of them. From 2013-15 I consumed as much information as I could. I felt betrayed by MSM & #Democrats. I was allegiant to them only because I was told to be.
I was told they were the party of #compassion, #tolerance, & #inclusion. It wasn’t until I started to walk away that I was able to see how those were extended to the immediate circle and agenda. Human rights violations continued unchecked. Dishonest media, unchecked. Politicians
And Officials, unchecked. A degradation of everything that makes or country strong and proud. I discovered this spanned Right and Left. I dug deeper, realizing it had spanned decades. Globally even. I didn’t know what would happen but I was discouraged to say the least.
Then @realDonaldTrump announced he was running for President and I immediately knew this was our guy. I didn’t know if he’d be able to do it. When I saw all the establishment candidates he was up against, I felt even more uncertain. I watched the media favor him over the others.
Give him all the air time. Cut away for a rally, speech, or interview. Every network had him. It was almost like they wanted him to be the candidate. Then he won the nomination. It was like a light switch. Their media tactics changed. They started using apocalyptic language.
What was most shocking to me was the way the general public changed and started interacting with one another. (Getting worse since clearly.) When I realized I had to keep my support of Donald Trump a secret from life long friends, I felt even more secure in my 2013 #WalkAway.
I’ve veered off here, but my point in all of this is that we must think critically and autonomously. We must not be afraid to speak and question what we observe. Research. Learn. Listen to the other side in their own words. Ask ourselves why we think or feel the way we do.
Let’s not be afraid of what lies beyond the start of truth or ignore it when we see it because it comes from the opposition. We want the #truth right? Let’s start by being willing to put down our swords & sit with someone we disagree with to preserve fastly eroding common ground.
