Grapes are much easier to manage and looking at how they grow and the space they occupy then clearly, you can actually intercrop them with seasonal legumes like beans...
You shouldn't intercrop them with crops that need alot of water.
Introduce intercropping between 1-2 years.
Classification of grapes.
Grapes are classified into :
a) Table grapes
b) Wine grapes
Lets take a look at the two and fine out the differences.
All wine grapes come from Vitis vinifera species.
Some come from Vitis Labrusca, rotondifolia... These once dont make grrat wine but are so delicious to eat.
Most cultivated grapes worldwide come from Vitis vinifera
Table grapes have thin skin perfect for thumping into as you munch but thats not ideal for wine making.
When it comes to making great wine, especially red wine, a thick skin is better and that's one of the main characteristics of wine grapes.
Wine grapes are much sweeter than table grapes.
Grapes need a lot of sugar for yeast to convert into alcohol.
The fact that wine grapes are harvested at a more later stage than table grapes makes them more sweeter allowing their sugars to well concentrate.
Wine grapes are harvested at around 22-30% sugar level while table grapes are harvested at closer to 10-15% sugar level. Wine grapes deteriorate faster though.
In making wine, bigger grapes aint better. Wine grapes are often small with concentrated flowers. Table grapes are large, bursting with juice and often have alot more water with less sugar meaning the grapes wont ferment so well.
Generally, table grapes produce more than wine grapes
Table grapes sre however a delicious fruit for an afternoon snack 🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷😏😏😏😏
