🚨BREAKING: Eli @LillyPad's Phase 3 trial of its monoclonal antibody (mAb) treatment (in combination with #remdesivir) for #COVID19 has been paused after an independent data safety monitoring board (DSMB) noted "potential safety concerns."

Lilly's mAb for #coronavirus is similar to @Regeneron's mAb cocktail (mixture of 2 mAb's) that Trump received for his #COVID19 and then falsely touted as a “cure.” Trump also touted Lilly’s treatment and others: “We have these drugs, Eli Lilly and the others that are so good.”
Such a "pause" in large clinical trials is not uncommon and may be due to a safety issue NOT related to the mAb (e.g., participant had a stroke). The *independent* (not beholden to the company) DSMB will review all of the safety data before any new participants are enrolled.
News that trials of Astra Zeneca's and JNJ's vaccines, along with Lilly's mAb, have been paused due to safety issues underscores:

1⃣the drug development process is working properly to ensure safety
2⃣there are NO guarantees that ANY will be approved

‼️First #COVID19 death confirmed in a person *REINFECTED* with the #coronavirus.

Although other #SARSCoV2 reinfections have been confirmed, this is the 1st DEATH after reinfection known in the world.

The elderly woman had Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (rare blood cancer) & was receiving therapy to deplete B cells that make antibodies ("humoral immunity"). However, her T cells, which work to kill virus-infected cells (cell-mediated immunity), should NOT have been affected.🦠
The woman was initially admitted into hospital earlier this year with a severe cough + fever and tested positive for the #coronavirus. She was discharged 5 days later when "besides some persisting fatigue, her symptoms subsided completely."

🚨BREAKING: huge clinical trial of Johnson & Johnson’s #coronavirus vaccine has been paused with enrollment of new participants stopped due to an "unexplained illness" in a study participant.

No details yet on the nature of the potential adverse reaction.

This comes a month after a study of another #coronavirus vaccine by AstraZeneca and @UniofOxford was paused due to a suspected adverse reaction in a UK patient (transverse myelitis). The study resumed in the UK and other countries, but still NOT in the US.
The current pause in JNJ's trial was due to a pre-set “pausing rule” and now, an independent committee (not affiliated with the company) that watches over the safety of patients in the clinical trial will be convened to review all of the safety info.

Most of the $$ went thru a company called Trump Las Vegas Sales and Marketing: little previous income, no clear business purpose and ZERO employees.

The Trump-Ruffin venture wrote it off as a business expense.

This does NOT look like a legit "business expense."🧐

We have FAILED at almost every step. We had ample warning, but when the disease 1st arrived, we were incapable of testing effectively & couldn’t provide even the most basic #PPE to health care workers and the general public. And we continue to be way behind the curve in testing.
