Let's do NDP highlights, starting with:
When NDP took power they kept a right-wing, BC Lib-appointed top bureaucrat in the Energy Ministry, conspiracy theory fan Dave Nikolesjin. Recently they replaced him with more far-right Fazil Mihlar of the Fraser Institute. #BCElection2020
..Next up, & related: NDP give us 79% increase in fossil fuel subsidies over BC Lib levels, a significant rise in fracking (incl right near #SiteC & other dams), & signing off on a militarized raid on #Wetsuweten to protect #CoastalGasLink in a climate crisis. #bcelxn2020 #bcpoli
.."Natural gas" is fracked methane, the potent GHG. Also on NDP's gas file, the #LNGCanada project, an uneconomic house of cards in which we forego royalties but are left paying for the damage & transmission lines etc. "LNG is a Losing Bet": thetyee.ca/News/2020/10/2… #bcelxn2020
Then we have #SiteC, also uneconomic, whose $$$$$ electricity will actually slow electrification of the economy as hydro rates soar, pushing us back to the gas that it greenwashes, and whose long-known yet denied geotech safety issues are ballooning its cost...#BCElexn2020
Now to housing. In three years, no NDP action on the Little Mountain eviction scandal. Why didn't govt repo the site after Holborn (Geoff Meggs here w/ Holborn & Trump heirs) paid no taxes in 10 yrs, didn't pay for the site & built nothing? Too busy building Trump Tower? #bcpoli
Recently, in midst of unprecedented homelessness crisis resulting in part from an unforgivable slough of whole-building evictions in the DTES, NDP finally announces..450 housing spaces. Are you kidding us, @selinarobinson? After all this time, and *billions* on #SiteC, that's it?
@selinarobinson ..Also, while NDP govt spent shedloads of money on infrastructure to support offshore extraction corps, including $$$$$ transmission lines to greenwash LNG, we have a province-wide failure on social housing, home care, the opioid crisis, reneging on universal $10/day daycare...
..Then NDP betrayal of teachers, & that's not the only labour sector betrayed: even sectors the NDP pretends to champion, like forest workers, are betrayed by giveaways to multinational corps who lay off workers & close mills *even while increasing the cut & bullying BC for more*
..And NDP giveaways to forestry corps for what? Few jobs, only 2.8% of BC GDP, but clearcutting the whole province & turning fire-retarding, water & species-protecting old growth into... pellets. They've *accelerated* old growth logging over BC Lib levels. thenarwhal.ca/bc-pacific-bio…
The NDP's failure to fix a situation in which pro O&G bureaucrats sit on the Oil & Gas Commission & push fracking & their quakes right next to the fragile dams *that they are also responsible for.* Oh and their fake feint on #TMX then lying back and doing nothing about it..
..NDP's failure to act on election promise of Species At Risk legislation in midst of multiple extinction risks, which @GeorgeHeyman in debates has the gall to blame on "First Nations and their pace." Are you kidding me? You can't use FNs as false alibi, George. Stop. #bcelxn2020
@GeorgeHeyman ..Still on environment, virtually no NDP repair of BC Libs' gutted environmental assessment and monitoring. The latter would certainly supply a source of green jobs, but don't hold your breath for good ecosystem and forest mgmt with monitoring... The extraction co's might get mad
@GeorgeHeyman Perhaps worst of all, NDP's cynical sabotage of our best chance at Pro Rep via insufficient leadup time & education & a deliberately complicated ballot Q instead of just legislating PR on a trial basis which was 100% doable. Without PR, no leverage on the NDP's oil & gas agenda.
BCers don't understand Pro Rep because unlike most places in the world, we don't enjoy it at any of 3 levels of gov't, so people believe fearmongering by NDP corp lobbyist pals like Bill Tieleman. PR improves democracy & thwarts corp lobbyists; FPTP turns NDP into BC Lib clone.
Let's just not pretend the NDP are progressives. They're actually courting corporate capture in nearly every ministry, and they talk UNDRIP out of one side of their mouth & send in semi-automatic armed mounties out of the other. This isn't stewardship in the public interest.
Even if you're not ecosocialist, as I am, you still can't really argue that this NDP bunch are environmental stewards, great friends to labour, or remotely interested in addressing the twin & intertwined crises of inequality and climate change.

They don't deserve a majority.
PS I haven't even got into the question of the NDP's way over-praised #Covid19 response, the recent revelations about their year and a half long coverup of disastrous news on #SiteC, Horgan's I don't see colour, Cullen's and Heyman's FN bozo eruptions...
.. Addendum: Here's @VoteCompass' assessment of where the 3 main BC parties sit on the political spectrum. Vote tribally if you wish, but let's be honest about what we're really voting for. #BCelxn2020

!!! New blockbuster exposé from @sarahcox_bc at @thenarwhalca. "Top BC government officials knew #SiteC dam was in serious trouble over a year ago: FOI docs." The NDP gov't knew about severe geotech instability & didn't stop work. #bcpoli #BCElection2020 thenarwhal.ca/site-c-dam-geo…
@sarahcox_bc @thenarwhalca ..Here are some key points from Sarah Cox's #SiteC exposé:
First, the 2 top bureaucrats who had the #SiteC info are Les McLaren and Lori Wanamaker, two of the many BC Lib leftovers whom Horgan kept, which was the first worrying sign he'd be sticking to BC Lib policies... 2/x
@sarahcox_bc @thenarwhalca Those two bureaucrats - and thus we have to assume cabinet also unless the NDP govt's incompetence and lack of control is at inconceivable levels - knew in May of *2019* how serious the #SiteC stability problems were. They didn't tell us until June of *2020* #bcpoli #BCelxn2020

Calling all progressives: if you're taking your voting cue from a fauxgressive lobbyist who takes $$$$$ money from some of the worst special interests in B.C., you're not a progressive. Shall we have a refresher on who Bill Tieleman is? #bcpoli #BCelxn2020 #SiteC #cdnpoli
..No doubt you recall Bill Tieleman helping ram #SiteC through. #BCNDP gave him full & repeated access to cabinet ministers all Fall 2017 while expert #SiteC opponents could not get mtgs. Now we'll be saddled w/ billions in debt, all for his Allied Hydro Alliance biz union pals.
Then there was Tieleman's sabotage of BC's chances at #ProportionalRepresentation, the fairer voter system used by most of the world's tops nations, by scaremongering about "neo-nazis" when FPTP brought us Trump & Boris. And he teamed up with BC Libs to do it.

Just attended an excellent #SiteC webinar put on by the N. American Megadam Resistance Alliance (NAMRA, @resistmegadams) - "Canada's Sinking Site C Dam" with brilliant presentations by @sarahcox_bc @candacebatycki @Norm_Farrell. Watch it here: facebook.com/resistmegadams… #bcpoli
@resistmegadams @sarahcox_bc @candacebatycki @Norm_Farrell ..Some highlights from today's international Zoom event on #SiteC: @sarahcox_bc noting the difference between the US & Canada/BC in terms of access to information: the US supplies info immediately; BC govt can take many months, a year, sometimes refuse entirely. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

Vaughn Palmer: "Only when @jjHorgan is safely in office will public get straight goods about Site C - NDP show every intention of getting through election without addressing any of legitimate concerns raised by #SiteC opponents." #bcpoli #BCelxn2020

@jjhorgan .. Top energy expert "Robert McCullough suggests arguments for cancellation are stronger today, given the continuing coverup of geotechnical risks at #SiteC.. After 10 mos of study BC Hydro has not addressed a # of seismic & design concerns first reported to mgmt in Dec 2019"
@jjhorgan ...Just to repeat that word: "coverup."

The "continuing coverup of geotechnical risks at #SiteC."

Despite an allergy to politicianese, I'm going to grit my teeth and watch this. 3,2,1...
Well, @ShachiKurl is doing a good moderating this bag of badgers
@ShachiKurl ..Good lord, did Andrew Wilkinson actually just say that allowing the free market to "create more housing will cause prices to come down"? Oh that has really worked for the past 20 years (pours self another drink) #vanpoli #vvanre #BCLeadersDebate #bcpoli

BREAKING: A blockbuster report released today by the energy expert who exposed Enron and who has referred to #SiteC as "Enron of the North," Robert McCullough. He's the one who showed @jjhorgan how to cancel #SiteC painlessly in 2017. Read the bits on geology... #bcpoli #Cdnpoli
@jjhorgan You may remember Robert McCullough from a few years ago - he was one of the experts submitting to the BCUC's #SiteC inquiry & also met with Horgan's cabinet to explain why the dam wasn't viable. And at the Site C Summit shortly after Horgan passed the dam:
@jjhorgan That presentation by McCullough methodically took apart Dave Eby's excuses for continuing with #SiteC which were the NDP's manufactured party line at the time. Eby should have known better; McCullough had explained it to cabinet before Horgan's decision
