Here's the #EY full report: "Progress review of COVID-19 response in long-term care" (#LTC) in #BC - It was paid for by BC taxpayers, given to govt on Oct 20/20; and released to us, today: news.gov.bc.ca/files/1.25.202…
I question... why it took 3 months for this report to become public? I'm guessing it wouldn't have done @jjhorgan much good in his snap election, if it were made public just days before?
Elxn aside... I find the report troubling. Please read it and let me know what you think.
The report suggests numerous areas of policy and operations; in which BC was ill-prepared
Given that @DrBonnieHenry is a renowned expert in public health, preventative medicine + global pandemics - I just can't understand why we're still playing catch up now; let alone why we weren't better prepared at the onset.
Given her expertise in this field... why... why... weren't we better positioned and prepared to face this pandemic?
According to BC Gov Bio: her job is to be "responsible for monitoring the health of all British Columbians and undertaking measures for disease prevention and control and health protection"
So I ask her, and I ask all of us... what measures has she taken? I'm so tired of hearing her lay blame on those of us who are following every advice and suggestion and plea.... that "we" should do more.
What is *she* going to do... and *when*?
We (I)
can't shut down work camps,
can't enact travel bans
can't make schools subject to same protocols as almost every other sector
Today was the last straw for me; when she urged us all to "find joy"...
It's so insulting to us, and such a waste of her expertise... to resort to being a cheerleader (and I'm actually a fan of cheerleaders) ... but that's NOT.HER.JOB
Dear @DrBonnieHenry -you are a renowned expert in public health, preventative medicine + global pandemics. Spare me your cheerleading 'find joy.. be kind'. It's insulting and a waste of your expertise. Pls put enforceable orders in place to contain the spread
And again... blaming the "lunch room"...
Please provide the stats that back up this assertion...
And it would really help us have more confidence in your "suggestions" if you stopped giggling at the serious questions you are asked.
The reason I ask is that -there are large numbers of people (1/4 is a figure I've heard) who do live with varying degrees of mental/emotional health issues; who might benefit from professional #MentalHealth care; who don't get it; because of the stigma and/or the expense. 2/
@JJhorgan your comment was so dismissive and demeaning to so many #BCers Among them:
->the reporter who asked the question
->your fellow MLAs, whose job it is to represent their constituents (us) by questioning you and holding you to account 3/
I find it curious, that she went on to say (re the hockey team) that " A number of the team came back and spread it to family/work/community"
Wouldn't the same be true for students, teachers, staff at schools - who also return home - and spread it ?

Here's what I found on the #BCCDC website which Dr Henry says would answer our ?'s re how she knows transmission isn't happening from schools:
Dear 650000+ #USA citizens currently living in #Canada,
I don't know what brought you here (welcome to #WeTheNorth land)
But I can't understand why only 30500 of you voted in #2016USElxn. That's downright pitiful by any #voter turnout standard... #USPoli#Toronto#Vancouver
..The results of the upcoming (66 days) #2020Election will have profound repercussions to not only #USA, but to #Canada . As a Canadian, I'm not eligible to vote. What's your excuse if you're a #USAexpat?
Hey #YYJ#Victoria#Tree#Arborist peeps - can anyone id this conifer for me? It's in my neighbouring yard - home to generations of birdies: chickadees, nuthatches, downy woodpeckers, wrens.. and it's about to be demolished for new condo; and I'm heartbroken.
The new condo being built by @ARYZE_devcon will be home to 6 'boutique' units; which will do nothing to improve the affordable housing shortage in #YYJ aryze.ca/project/956-he…
