India still among the lowest in terms cases or deaths per million population globally. Among the larger population countries, we still remain among the lowest in terms of cases per million population: Secretary, @MoHFW_INDIA

#COVID19 cases had grown in mid-Sept, after which it had continuously declined and then started climbing up from the 1st week of April

In mid-Sept, the country was also reporting max no. of deaths (a daily average of 1089), followed by a continuous decline and then again a rise

The states of maximum concern still remains #Maharashtra, #Punjab & #Chhattisgarh

#Maharashtra for its share of the total no. of cases & deaths nationally

#Punjab and #Chhattisgarh for their no. of deaths. Given their population, their death nos. are a cause for extreme concern

#COVID19 in #Maharashtra:

Risen from an avg of 3000 in Feb 2nd week to more than 44,000 at present

Avg daily deaths has also gone up from 32 to 250

Accounts for 58% of all active cases & 34% of all COVID-related deaths in the country - it is a cause for concern

#COVID19 in #Maharashtra:

The share of #RTPCR tests have decreased in the last few weeks - it went down from around 71% in March 1st week to only about 60% of total testing in the last week

We advise states to keep the share of RT-PCR to 70% or above

#COVID19 in #Maharashtra: The weekly positivity rate had declined to 6% towards the beginning of February and has now increased to 24% in the last week. This is also a cause for concern. We need to work more strictly in matters of isolating people where it's needed- @MoHFW_INDIA

We have deployed 50 high-level multi-disciplinary public health teams in 30 #Maharashtra districts, 11 #Chhattisgarh districts and 9 #Punjab districts. They (having a public health specialist and a clinician) will help in surveillance, control & containment measures: @MoHFW_INDIA

#LargestVaccineDrive: 8.31 crore #vaccine doses administered till today morning

5.35 crore people aged 45 or above #vaccinated

89.6 lakh #healthcareworkers and 97.28 lakh #frontline workers also #vaccinated

Following all scientific rigours, more than 8 crore #vaccine doses have been administered in the country in less than 80 days, which has been made possible by a close coordination between the Centre and State Governments: Secretary, @MoHFW_INDIA

When such a #vaccination is organized during a pandemic, the basic aim is to reduce deaths. The other aim is to protect your healthcare system. All over the world, the aim is to vaccinate those who need it, to save the vulnerable population: Secretary, @MoHFW_INDIA

More than 81 lakh people have been administered the first dose of #vaccine and more than 8 lakh have received their second dose also.

The whole country has to fight against the #pandemic with all its power. We have to use our old tools of COVID Appropriate Behaviour, Containment, Testing, Preparing Hospitals and, also, Vaccination all over, and esp. in the districts where the situation is grim: Dr. V.K.Paul
