1/16 So, a long weekend to reflect on @DHRewired last week. After a couple of dog-walks and marathon poo-picking sessions, plenty of time to think. I keep coming back to the #frontline #digitisation programme. I offer this constructively. If you want to discuss, contact me ImageImage
2/16 The session with the biggest impact was #Tim #Ferris. He talked about his experience in Boston at Mass Gen and he stressed that once they’d put a single system in across 8 hospitals, all staff were part of one team and they were all on the same page for every patient
3/16 What greatly troubled me is that there was no acknowledgement in the world of ICS where we are driving vertical integration, we cannot be working on a single system

1/5 In looking at the #frontline #digitisation #RFI for EPR suppliers I note that there isn’t any mention of requirements to populate #sharedcarerecords or support #interoperability standards such as #ukcore. After 20+ years, why doesn’t the NHS centre get this? A short 🧵
2/5 Interoperability is at least as important as the functional list of requirements. Regions (not Trusts and even not ICSs) are standardising on capability, not systems - e.g Maternity, #epma, specialist systems like ophthalmology. EPRs must be able to work with other systems
3/5 Also, how should an #EPR work within a #pathology and a #radiology network not co-terminus with an ICS? These are more organic and high data liquidity through interoperability is key. That’s another interoperability dimension we should be including.

Word “racism” silenced, actively, by #MedEd #MedTwitter #healthcare#professionalism” & “communication” labels

Saying “racism” offends or “hurts feelings” > actual #BLM deaths

If #professionalism itself is racist -makes sense that word suppressed

If the editors of @JAMA_current resist hearing word “structural racism” then they certainly are not publishing papers using that word

@khushsundar Maam if you are thinking that these people are genuine #journalists you are wrong. They are #frontline for #dmk masquerading as #journalists

A look at his twitter account will clear this for you.

@cosmicblinker
@roamingraman
@VenkaTweetesh
@BJP4TamilNadu
@CTR_Nirmalkumar
@khushsundar @cosmicblinker @roamingraman @VenkaTweetesh @BJP4TamilNadu @CTR_Nirmalkumar See what he retweets. Certain pro channels are giving absolute majority for #dmk through their opinion poll where the sample size is around 8000 this #RadhakrishnanRK has no problem.

But if someone else projects higher numbers for #aiadmk he has an issue. This is his neutrality
@khushsundar @cosmicblinker @roamingraman @VenkaTweetesh @BJP4TamilNadu @CTR_Nirmalkumar Some one with 12 follower who we do not know about his background is suggesting that people with no knowledge just to please their masters are giving higher numbers for #AIADMKFOR2021

And #RadhakrishnanRK retweets that too

Whoever says that #dmk is winning he probably retweets

A thread on security:
1/6: Barely a day goes by without several explosions and targeted killings here in #Kabul. The atmosphere on the streets has changed; you can now see sheer panic in people’s faces.
2/6: Stuck in traffic recently,ppl in an armoured car next to me suddenly jumped out frantically,inspecting the doors,checking if an IED had been attached.I hoped no such bomb would explode;it didn’t.Seconds later,they resumed their trip,but the moment of naked fear lingered on.
3/6: #Kabul is on edge - and has been for the past months. In January, 30 such magnetic bombs exploded in the #Afghan capital alone, injuring and killing many, sending waves of fear into the nation.

Reminder. The Royal Commission on aged care reported last year that: "The aged care sector suffers from severe difficulties in recruiting and retaining staff. Workloads are heavy. Pay and conditions are poor, signaling that working in aged care is not a valued occupation..." 1/
It goes on: "Innovation is stymied. Education and training are patchy and there is no defined career path for staff. Leadership is lacking. Major change is necessary to deliver the certainty and working environment that staff need to deliver great quality care.” 2/
The problems in #agedcare have been well documented for years. #COVID has merely exposed these fault lines. We need an economic recovery that prioritises decent wages and secure conditions for all #frontline workers. We can't afford to wait. 3/

Like many, I’ve had some extra fee time these days... After rebinging @theofficenbc and #theofficereunion I was inspired.

A thread of Trump’s handling of the #coronavirus (#COVID19) pandemic, as told by Michael Scott. #TheOffice
Way back in 2018, Trump decided it was a good idea to disassemble the #Pandemic Response Team – created by the Obama administration in case there was “an airborne disease that is deadly.” This can’t go wrong! #thiswaspreventable
Trump does nothing to replace this. He plays golf and insults people on Twitter – just the normal things that presidents do right?

Males of Indian ethnicity are 2.4 times more likely to die from Covid-19 than white males. The figure for females of Indian ethnicity is slightly higher, at 2.7.

1/11This weekend sucked. I swabbed a patient for Covid today (one of many). She was convinced she didn’t have “it” because she’d been swabbed two days before & it was negative, despite all of her symptoms pointing to it. The swab is awful & we are seeing 30-40% failure rate.
2/11Because if not done correctly (which is fucking awful) you get ‘negative’ tests. So I swab pretty aggressively. I made her nose bleed unfortunately and she cried. I felt terrible about that. Her test came back positive. She broke down & cried. I sat with her in my PPE
3/11where it’s impossible to really connect. She asked “can you promise me I’m not going to die?” I didn’t know what to say. I said “your numbers look good and most people do okay with this. She then asked “what are you going to do here for me?” I explained the plan

We still had time to get things right - we needed 20 sets of #PPE per patient per day- the Govt was told this, & when #COVID19 first appeared at the start of February @BorisJohnson & his govt did nothing
The Govt has delivered through the whole crisis only 1,358,518 gowns but the #NHS needs 100,000s a day, when panic set in they used spin to say ‘we followed the scorn so a total utter lie & criminal negligence

@billy_blog lovely to meet you, @wbmosler and Martin yesterday.

I hope your journeys went well?

A couple of slightly #tangential things from the #frontline I think you'll find of interest;

You may be amused at the rankings for #CivilService for the UK, The US and, say, #Germany...

Talking of which.

I'm at @pcs_union #PCSConference2019 in a week.

It would be great to arrange for you to have some input.
