The current dangerous escalation of the civil war in #Donbas and conflicts of #Russia with #Ukraine and the West demonstrates importance of peaceful resolution of these conflicts and prevention of a war between Russia and Ukraine.
Russian military power display near #Ukraine & statements by Putin's aides about possibility of war with Ukraine & seizure of its large part appear to be asymmetric escalation in response to Zelensky's failure to implement Minsk Agreements & Biden policy towards #Russia & Ukraine
This means that #Russia is now willing to use its military forces against #Ukraine openly and beyond #Donbas, in contrast to its covert direct military interventions in #Crimea in February-March 2014 & in Donbas in August 2014 and February 2015. #Donbass
Threat of #Russia & #Ukraine war is highest since start of conflict in 2014 but its likelihood is far from certain. In case of such possible but at the moment not very likely war, US & #NATO won't intervene directly militarily similarly to Russian-Georgian war over South Ossetia.
This means that #Ukraine won't become a NATO member in the foreseeable future because #NATO countries won’t risk a war with nuclear #Russia over Ukraine & because Russia might use #Ukraine joining NATO as a casus belli for the war with Ukraine.
The escalation of the danger of a #Russia #Ukraine war also shows that propaganda about 7 year-long war with Russia is primitive fake. Such war would be catastrophic for Ukraine & would likely mean military defeat & loss of large parts of Eastern & Southern Ukraine, if not more.
This makes prevention of a Ukraine - Russia war & peaceful resolution of the conflict in #Donbas and conflicts of #Russia with #Ukraine & the West urgent and the best option to Ukrainians. The question is whether the current leaders of Ukraine, Russia, and the US would do this.
I meant that the threat of a war between #Ukraine and #Russia is the highest since at least the end of 2014 after the start of the conflict in 2014, but its likelihood is far from certain.
