3/ @DrRCoull & I were 2 of many GPs who raised concerns last yr over the LEVEL of #PPE HCWs expected to wear when dealing directly w/ confirmed or suspected #COVID19 pts.

GPs were advised to wear plastic gloves, apron, visor/goggles (in v short supply), & could wear scrubs *if we wanted to*.

5/We literally BEGGED for our #PPE to be upgraded!
& as evidence accrued that HCWs working in supposedly HIGH RISK locations have actually been less severely affected by #COVID19, @PHE blocked their ears & eyes to the plight of HCWs in acute medical units, A+Es & Primary Care

10/ I have absolutely no doubt that individuals employed by @PHE_uk have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic providing the information & advice we have all become accustomed to on the dashboard & websites for eg.
11/ But I am equally sure that @PHE_uk IS NO LONGER AN INDEPENDENT ORGANISATION which is there to protect us all AND that MANY DECISIONS made during the pandemic, have got a distinctly @10DowningStreet look about them.
12/This latest shockingly poor decision by @PHE_uk to “hide” information on school transmission of the #IndianVariant & then release an incredibly important document late on a Saturday night under cover of #Eurovision2021 is I’m afraid PAR FOR THE COURSE!
