Chaos and humiliation as #Israel pulls out of #Lebanon (2000) theguardian.com/world/2000/may…
#Nasrallah: apologizes for his absence during the last few days. He has a cough... seems tired...
#Nasrallah: I was in contact with people and leaders in #Gaza every day during the last days, but I have to speak about this, then I will speak about #Lebanon and remember #Badreddine...
#Nasrallah: the Resistance's victory in May 2000 in #Lebanon and its victory in #Gaza in May 2021...
#Nasrallah: I congratulate the people of #Gaza and I also congratulate the people in #Lebanon on their victories. This required sacrifice, it wasn't something that fell on Lebanon from the skies. This is the result of years of sacrifice by many Lebanese...
#Nasrallah now citing those who controbuted to the 2000 victory: the martyrs of the Amal movement, of Hezbollah, of the Lebanese army, of Palestinian factions, of the Syrian army, of the Lebanese people.
#Nasrallah: This liberation is the result of constant jihad and the support of the people to the Resistance, especially the people of the Bekaa who sacrificed so much.
#Nasrallah remembers here the contriobutions of Sayyed Abbas el Mousaoui, Mustafa Badreddine, Imad Mughniyeh, Ahmad Yehyah...
#Nasrallah: what contributed more to the 2000 victory is the official stance of the Lebanese state in 2000, Lahhoud, Berri, el-Hoss. This led us to a liberation celebration, not to sectarian strife...
#Nasrallah: Imam Khomeini and Hajj Qassem Soleimani have contributed to the 2000 victory. The 2000 liberation inaugurated the era of victories...
#Nasrallah: the ultimate goal is al-Quds. All our efforts tend to this liberation because the 2000 victory had clear strategic results for our hopes... Even Israelis recognized the impact of this victory (quotes Isaac Shamir)
#Nasrallah: after the victory of 2000 came the first Intifada, and the evacuation of Gaza. This was a strategic error by Israel. Gaza became another front for the Resistance. From then, Israel worked to defeat the resistance in south Lebanon and Gaza, but kept failing...
#Nasrallah: this led to the 2006 war on #Lebanon with the goal of eliminating the Resistance, with the subsequent assaults on #Gaza, 2012, 2014-2018... and the latest assault of May 2021...
#Nasrallah now talking about the latest war on #Gaza: not going to mention all the details of the Sword of al-Aqsa (name of the operation by the resistance in Gaza)
#Nasrallah: The Resistance in #Gaza took the decision to protect Jerusalem and al-Aqsa which were under threat. The reason for this war is the stupidity of the leadership of the enemy, and Netanyahu, and their miscalculations...
#Nasrallah: the enemy has always underestimated the Resistance, and this led them every time to defeat. We face an arrogant and stupid enemy who will never learn, until it will lead to our final victory...
#Nasrallah: The enemy thought that the judification of Jerusalem was on track. They thought that, with normalization, Palestinians in the WB had become powerless. They even had a plan to send ground troops to Gaza in case there was reaction from there...
#Nasrallah: The decision that the leaders of #Gaza took this time was historical.
#Nasrallah: Previous wars on #Gaza were based on the calculation that Gaza was on its own, cut from the rest of Palestine and besieged... This time Gaza entered the war to protect al-Quds and not to protect itself. This decision is historical.
#Nasrallah: #Gaza endured destruction and death to protect al-Quds and al-Aqsa. This decision by the leadership in #Gaza was a decision of sacrifice and faith. It reverberated across Palestine and beyond...
#Nasrallah: Protests flared in 1948 Palestine, in Jordan, in Lebanon, in the rest of the world in support of Gaza and Palestinians..
#Nasrallah: I am addressing here the enemy and its leadership. I am telling them to learn the lessons of this war: when the threat is on Jerusalem and al-Aqsa, on places of Christian and Muslim worship, things become different...
#Nasrallah: Places of worship in the holy city, Jerusalem, must be protected. The Israelis must understand that what they are doing to Jerusalem is a concern, not only to the resistance in Gaza, but to all in the region and the world.
#Nasrallah: The Resistance in #Gaza is creating a new equation: if anything happens to al-Quds (total judification), this will lead to a regional war.
#Nasrallah: The Resistance intends to protect Jerusalem and places of Christian and Muslim worship. This was the most important point I wanted to make tonight...
#Nasrallah: the battle of Sayf-el-Quds (The sword of Jerusalem), is the name of the latest operation of the Resistance in Jerusalem and Gaza...
#Nasrallah now moving on to assess the impact on Palestinians: this has unified Palestinians. The enemies of palestinians tried to divide them but here they failed. This operation revived the Palestinian cause... 55% of the news were around Palestine.
#Nasrallah: this war has also infused a new life to the idea of Palestine from the river to the sea...
#Nasrallah: This war has also destroyed the Israeli propaganda that Palestinians renounced their own land, that they fled. This was a lie. Palestinians have showed their resolve to keep and defend their land through sacrifice...
#Nasrallah: This war has put a death knell to normalization...
#Nasrallah: This war has also brought again the status of East Jerusalem as contested, which the Israeli propaganda wanted the US to think that it was resolved, and that Jerusalem, East and West, was going to be the capital of Israel...
#Nasrallah: There was attempts during the last years to occupy the region with sectarian wars. The 2021 Gaza war, the Sayf-el-Quds battle, has reoriented the struggle in the region against #Israel.
#Nasrallah: In this war, we are talking about two asymmetrical entities, #Israel with the most important army in the world and in the region, and Gaza, besieged, a flat area totally dominated by Israel.
#Nasrallah: we are talking here about a people and a Resistance, 2 million people, living besieged in a 360 Km2 area, facing one of the most important army in the world...
#Nasrallah: the Resistance in #Gaza showed great capabilities in terms of weapons and human power. The very fact of sending a missile on Israel is in itself accomplishment, not to mention targets.
#Nasrallah: In this war, the number, the quality of the missiles and their density was a achievement for the Resistance...
#Nasrallah: Countries in the region have undergone many wars but the state did not crumble. #Israel is different, it cannot endure wars without disintegrating because security is at the core of the state. Israelis are all bi-nationals who will leave in the case of a prolonged war
#Nasrallah: Lebanese and Palestinians won't leave their land. Our decision is to stay. What makes Israelis stay or leave is security. Take away their security and they will leave... This was the achievement of the resistance this time. Not even the 2006 war achieved this...
#Nasrallah: 70% of Israelis, at different times, had to go to shelters during this 11-day war. This has a great psychological impact on Israelis and Israel.
#Nasrallah: This war has put an end to the illusion of security in #Israel, not only internally, but also externally, for investors...
#Nasrallah: This time, the Resistance has imposed this war on the enemy. The designated PM in Israel even spoke of existential threat...
#Nasrallah: The Resistance was able to put a victorious front to all, to its people, to its enemy and to the world... Israel failed to achieve any strategic goal in this war...
#Nasrallah: all what Israel can claim is tactical, the destruction of Gaza and the killing of some leaders, but this isn't an achievement for an army of this importance and size...This is failure, failure of intel (they didn't know from where the missiles were coming... )
#Nasrallah: This was a failure. The fact that Israel asked the US to contribute more to make the Iron Dome better is proof of failure...
#Nasrallah: Israel failed in destroying Gaza's missile capacity, failure in killing the leader of operations during this war, failure in predicting the reaction of the 1948 Palestinians in Israel. Israel went to this war lost and came out defeated.
#Nasrallah: Failure in conducting a ground operation. Without ground operation there couldn't be any victory... This is the most important failure.
#Nasrallah: I am not saying the Israeli army is incapable of a ground operation on Gaza, what I am saying is that this army and it leadership have a low morale and are afraid of a ground operation.
#Nasrallah: And Israel was unable to present the face of victory to the world.
#Nasrallah: now back to #Lebanon. The Resistance here is in its best shape, in every regard, 21 years after the liberation of the south.
#Nasrallah: I am telling Israelis to not miscalculate about Lebanon. Lebanon is under the golden equation, the army, the people and the Resistance. Despite our current dire conditions in Lebanon, the Resistance is ready to defend Lebanon.
#Nasrallah mentions his ally gen Michel Aoun and the negotiations on maritime borders, implies the Resistance is also ready to defend Lebanon in this...
#Nasrallah on the formation of the gov: Hariri is clinging to his nomination as designate PM and he is not agreeing with the president. There is deadlock. Nasrallah calls for cooperation. He says despite external pressures, the crisis is internal.
#Nasrallah puts the responsibility on the formation of the next gov squarely on Hariri and Aoun...
#Nasrallah: Either Hariri goes to Baabda and sits with Aoun and works with him to give the country a gov, or we can ask a friend, the only one capable, Nabih Berri, to mediate between the two to exit the crisis.
#Nasrallah: the last ten years have been difficult for the Resistance (Syria), but this long struggle is what has set the conditions for the Resistance in Gaza to succeed. We can't predict what would have happened if ISIS had prevailed in Iraq and Syria.
#Nasrallah: what would have happened to Palestine if Iran wasn't supportive, if ISIS had prevailed?
#Nasrallah mentions the support of Yemen to Palestine, despite their hardship. Nasrallah chokes in mentioning Yemen. He is here reminding palestinians of their friends, the 'basis on which to build the future'
#Nasrallah: and what is the future? Real peace, not the peace of liars, but the peace of our friends and our loved ones. The liberation of Palestine is nearer than you think...
#Nasrallah: But most of all, thanks to Iran and its leader Ayatollah Khameini, to Hajj #QassemSoleimani who came to our region with dark hair and left it with grey hair. His enthusiasm was greater than ours, we tired and he didn't. It is to him that we present this victory...
End of speech. #Nasrallah

And how could Palestinians recognize the state of #Israel, which is, in its current definition, deny their rights and their very existence?

1/ Few important points made by Nasrallah in his interview on @AlMayadeenNews today with Ghassan ben Jeddou. The whole thread is here but beware it is a 100 tweets thread. threadreaderapp.com/thread/1343253…
2/ It is the Iranians, particularly #Soleimani, who drove the Americans out of #Iraq.
3/ Not much is known about the Iraqi resistance to the US between 2003 & 2011 because the world was busy watching civilians blown up to pieces by #alQaeda while the real resistance, the one that targeted #US soldiers, not civilians, was made by Iraqis helped by Soleimani.

RT's Afshin Rattansi interviewed Zeinab Soleimani on the anniversary of the unlawful assassination of her father #QassemSoleimani. She is truly her father's daughter.
Zeinab Soleimani: my father wasn't afraid of the Americans, they were the ones afraid of him because he stood in the way of their plans for the ME.
Zeinab Soleimani about US soldiers' presence in Iraq and Syria: America creates something and then sends its soldiers to get killed by this something they created, and they don't care for them, for their lives, they just care for more power.

1/ All these Leb politicians sitting with #Macron were lectured and humiliated. Although Macron shouldn't have this prerogative, they deserve it. They spend their time bickering when the country is in free fall. #Beirut
2/ The inertia in #Lebanon is not Hezbollah's fault, however, #Hezbollah tolerated this for a long time because it wanted to be part of the system to protect its status. It was a Faustian bargain that is coming to haunt them now, and here is where Hezbollah's sins lie.
3/ The only politician in #Lebanon who cannot be humiliated by a foreign power is #Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah. He didn't only earn respect, even from his enemies, but he showed us, as a people, what dignity is in the face of learned, interiorised, humiliation.
