& “freedom fighters” conveniently forget the health & safety of the 1000s of transport workers who will HAVE NO CHOICE but to be surrounded by unmasked ppl outside #London EVERY DAY AT WORK, during a pandemic.

2/ The effect of millions of unmasked ppl using public transport across the country in 5 DAYS TIME in the face of current rapidly increasing cases, hospitalisations AND increasing deaths is likely to be devastating for individuals, families, communities, the UK & THE WORLD!

3/ Which bit of “the science” don’t the govt & those in the “as long as my life returns to normal I don’t care what happens to anyone else” camp, understand?

The pandemic IS NOT OVER!

Reckless UK govt decisions like this will have serious repercussions across the globe.

4/ If you haven’t seen/known anyone w/ acute or #LongCovid I understand that you may be weary of restrictions on your FREEDOMS. But think of the millions of CV/CEV & partially/unvaccinated adults & children.

YOUR FREEDOMS = THEIR OPPRESSION!

5/ Imagine a crowded @LondonUNDERGRND or @TyneWearMetroUK carriage with just 1 infected maskless person on it ⬇️.

6/ @Conservatives MPs & #antimask celebrities like @richardm56 & @JuliaHB1 often cite NON-#COVID19 healthcare as a reason to “get back to normal”.

They just won’t accept that letting #COVID “rip”, as it is in the #NorthEast currently, is a sure fire way to ⬇️ non-Covid care!

7/ Non-#COVID care is ALREADY being affected here.
Staff sickness/isolation is compounding an already very challenging & stressful situation.

With a highly contagious🦠 literally RUNNING WILD through our school communities & in young ppl, whole families are being affected.

8/ HCWs are mentally & physically exhausted. We cannot just be expected to keep on working in such high pressure environments & covering for sickness so that other members of society can travel without the “inconvenience” a 😷!

We #WearAMask for hrs on end….please #JustDoIt!

9/ & I would urge the leaders of EVERY bus, train, underground & tram company, the transport unions & all the mayors to follow @SadiqKhan & @TfL ‘s very wise example to continue to make it compulsory to #WearAMask on all public transport.

10/ @10DowningStreet @BorisJohnson & @sajidjavid must URGENTLY reconsider their decision regarding the public being legally required to #WearAMask INDOORS, in CROWDED POORLY VENTILATED SPACES, in particular on public transport.
