Between my normal depression/anxiety/bipolar, I was feeling really scary last month &went to my therapist. She said I'm most likely in a manic episode right now, which does explain the hysterical and extreme nature of how I'm feeling. She told me I probably have PPD on top. 😁👌
So, unfortunately, though what would be best for my mental state and reputation would be to stay home until it goes away, I work a lot these days and we need the money. Especially if I'm going to have to pay a psychologist to test me and a psychiatrist to medicate me. It's
frustrating and exhausting to say the least. I'm so tired. I don't sleep much anymore. I can't eat. Lost 30 pounds in two months with zero effort. Trust me, it doesn't sound good if you know how much more weight I can still lose. I'm officially on watch for my weight.

Need to unpack two concepts brought together by this question: 1) Decentering 2) Whiteness. #LiberatingEvangelicalism #insession 1/
First, To decenter means to move, slide, lift and clear from the center—the reference point. 2/ #LiberatingEvangelicalism .@FreedomRoadus
Now, #whiteness. Whiteness is a POLITICAL construct, created to order our world in such a way as to bestow full benefits of citizenship and humanity upon people deemed white by the state. 3/ #LiberatingEvangelicalism .@Evang4Justice @FreedomRoadus

The #10YearChallenge made me reflect not so much about the differences in the way I look, but about how much my life has changed since then and all that I’ve learned. It has also inspired me to write my first ever thread!
Ten years ago this week my first children's book "Greetings from Kiwi and Pear" was published. I was also drowning deep in credit card debt that was spiraling out of control.
Most of it accumulated after launching a stationery & gift business in 2003 & quitting my day job shortly after. By 2009, my products were sold in 100's of stores nationwide, I rented office space to house inventory and hire help, and I was doing tradeshows all over the country.

Nike facing billions in back taxes in the EU accused of gaming Netherlands tax rulings to hide revenue in offshore subsidiaries & accounts. #ButNothingsHappening icij.org/investigations…
Looks like many of the usual suspects were playing the same games including Amazon & Apple. Nike is accused of playing shell games with $12.2 billion in earnings.
The Swamp creatures in several European countries were arranging secret tax rulings that allowed companies to hide earnings from taxation. Used as a way to convince businesses to locate to those nations.

@mitchellvii I support @POTUS 100% & shall continue to do so but I am far from being more pumped up. I am BORED but never by Trump. Mission Bring Down Trump has been happening day in & day out ever since Trump came down that escalator. It's gotten REALLY OLD & REALLY STALE.
1/
@mitchellvii @POTUS @FoxNews & #FakeNews is now just BORING. Although new pundits are trotted in & out on a regular basis it's the same old thing spouting from different faces. It's all so tiresome. Witch hunts become boring especially when you know there are no witches.
2/
@mitchellvii @POTUS @FoxNews Every time another rock is overturned all the now exposed creepy slimey usual suspects scurry off to seek cover under another even larger rock. The REAL criminals keep on skating away. No one confronts them & the pundits keep on talking about the hypocrisy. BORING.

Many people have taken issue with @Nike's use of the phrase "sacrificing everything" with Colin Kaepernick's face, when others have made greater (or different) sacrifices for what they believe. I can understand that initial gut reaction.

But here's the thing:
"Sacrificing everything" is a fairly common figure of speech and rarely means literally sacrificing everything. It's almost always used figuratively in some kind of context, signifying giving up something major in exchange for something more important.
Nike is an athletic brand. Becoming an NFL QB takes an enormous amount of dedication and effort. So in the context of an athletic brand's marketing campaign highlighting an athlete who lost **everything he'd worked his lifetime toward as an athlete,** the phrase makes sense.

If people say your dreams are crazy, if they laugh at what you think you can do. Good, stay that way. Because what non-believers don’t understand is that calling a dream crazy isn’t an insult, it’s a compliment. #JustDoIt

While this will seem hyperbolic and problematic for its own reasons, I’m just gonna put this down:

Nike is poised to do more for Colin Kaepernick’s standing than any business has done for any hero of civil rights at any time in U.S. history.

1/
It is a crass and vulgar reality but in our capitalist, profit-driven, celebrity-loving culture, advertisers have the power to platform athletes with more reach and authority than even the media.

Nike will profit from this but was as a society stand to profit even more.

2/
It won’t be lost on me that Nike isn’t a perfect corporation and isn’t acting out of selfless altruism.

Nonetheless, we’re about to watch a cycle of moral ascendency that took decades with Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali as it plays out in mere months.

People are cutting the #Nike swoosh off their clothing, burning their Nike gear, pledging to boycott the company, and otherwise throwing a hissy fit because this company gave a man they despise a job.

Let's go over how we got here:
Kaepernick sat on the bench during the national anthem on August 26, 2016, because he saw the racial disparities in our legal and justice systems and felt that our country—the one our flag and anthem represent—was not living up to its ideals of “liberty and justice for all.”
That simple action created an uproar among people who took it as disrespect for the flag and for the veterans who sacrificed for our freedoms. Controversy ensued.

Wow. Traffic on @Nike after they announced that @Kaepernick7 will be the face of the anniversary #JustDoIt campaign.

If they were aiming for attention, it worked.
Average of 1.4 tweets per user.

66.2% retweets.

Consistent with organic traffic flows, not substantially gamed traffic.
Top hashtags #Nike and #JustDoIt. In third place, but some way behind, #BoycottNike.

Boycott calls are part of the arsenal. Cf. NFL, Keurig, etc.

#maga just edges #colinkeapernick. 1.3% of uses vs 1.2%.

Marches don't do shit to solve the problems we face as a nation. Due to gerrymandering, Citizens United, NRA and cheating (Scotus, stolen election) we have no opportunity to hold our representatives accountable $ is their only constituent. #FamiliesBelongTogetherMarch
#Resisters stop hoping that either #Mueller or #midterm2018 will right the wrongs of this regime. Realize we must be prepared to simultaneously attack and employ different tactics to win. We have to think out-of-the-box and #justdoit as 1st #womensmarch #msdstrong @MomsDemand
It's time to take a cue from our global trading partners and those who boycotted NC due to HB2 (Bathroom Bill). I propose a nation-wide boycott of GOP states and/or districts until families reunited, #puertorico #flint #BLM #DACA, #ACA #SCOTUS globalnews.ca/news/4304951/c…
