i think even if U disagree & think equity statements are useful,
i hope we can agree that even still, this shouldn't be the highest priority for the AMA or other medical organizations
side projects are 1 thing, making it the main show while ignoring bigger things is a problem
I strongly think its a bad idea, but ignoring real problems to put out circle-jerk statements about how moral & noble you are is by itself a dangerous thing,
it leaves people like pain patients out in the lurch while you are making nice with all your DC friends
Let alone that we are tying up physicians w/ more cultural red-tape that will only get in the way of doing their job, which is to treat people with the best tools, knowledge & techniques
not to be scared to tell them they have testicular cancer cuz the patient is an equity case
medical research has got to be impossible under this new rubric from the AMA,
how in the world will you ever sample & blind-test with populations that are now woke untouchables,
Its a really scary proposition what we are doing to ourselves
I think these types of movements,
putting out complex documents about how noble you are while making life harder for your members is a big sign of institutional decadence
Its an almost an insult to folks that do care about equity
let alone us types that are ever concerned about equality & just doing a good job
I don't care about what pronouns my doctor uses,
I just want her to be damn good at her job
