Why does it matter to me so damn much if you #BudgetForTheBenefit of Disabled Canadians ? 1/
It matters to me that we #BudgetForTheBenefit because I am a man of my word. It matters to me when I make a promise and I believe the country which I live in, should hold true to that same value.
If we won't keep our word to our own,
what good is our word to the world ? 2/
It matters to me that we #BudgetForTheBenefit because I see @kellyfairchild2 and the pain she has gone through with the tragic loss of her beloved pet. (sorry for your loss dear) I see her having to ask strangers on the internet for help as do so many others 3/
It matters to me that we #BudgetForTheBenefit because without it, people like @PatrickJDohert4 might have a chance at finding pain relief for his injured back.
Injured through years and years of work and when he couldn't work any more, he was forgotten by this country. 4/
It matters to me that we #BudgetForTheBenefit because then people like @nejsnave & @LandryLes wouldn't have to run constant charity drives for Disabled Canadians who are let down by all governments of this land. They shouldn't have to do Your Jobs @cafreeland@DrFullertonMPP 5/
It matters to me that we #BudgetForTheBenefit and it should matter to each and every other citizen of this formerly great country as well, because this is a part of the promise we've made each other as Canadians to have each other's backs in good times and bad. 6/
It matters to me that we #BudgetForTheBenefit because you've failed the community in literally the worst of times. This is yet another black eye for Canada which will take generations to be forgotten.. don't compound the trauma with years & years of wait to keep your promise 7/
It matters to me that we #BudgetForTheBenefit.
Why the hell doesn't it seem to matter to you ?
So, been a while Michael.
You got a promotion.
Nice !
I've sorta also, I'm now a level 3 pain in the ass. :)
Yet no matter how things change, they stay the same as well.
I need (all) your help.. 1/9
When last we spoke Face to.. public awareness commercial.. I was engaging you weekly for 10 weeks during the OLP Take the Mic sessions. Virtually every week, I would engage each week's topic with an alternate perspective and how it wraps into either ODSP or the Disabled pop. 2/9
I stressed, week after week just how critical it would be that IF the OLP were to be elected in June 2022 to raise ODSP to a livable level. I valued our engagements, I valued the back and forth and I valued the humor over my first Microphone (yikes).
This past Friday was the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It is now the second which has come and gone with no tangible movement towards the promised "#CanadaDisabilityBenefit" while at the same time 1/9
It' the second year in a row that another Party has attempted to pass a Federal #Disability Benefit in which your party has rejected. If you want a short statement about my thoughts then it's simple.. "Shit or get off the pot".
If you want something more eloquent, read on.. 2/9
Now I don't know just how many Disabled people there are who depends on #CPPD, #ODSP, #AISH, #SAID, and all the others without cute 4 letter short forms but I can tell you combined they account for roughly 50% of the homeless..
(at least in Ont..) and the homelessness issue 3/9
Dear @Chris_Bittle@taylorbachrach@RichardBragdon@ValBradford_ I write the four of you who span party lines, all elected representatives of our government to support and petition you to advocate For the prioritization of the Canada #Disability Benefit. I urge you to do so 1/16
with in your own parties, in public and to your fellow mp's across the room and sitting beside you in chambers.
This is an urgent issue which affects potentially Millions of Canadian Citizens who have been left behind and forgotten not just since the start of the pandemic 2/16
But for decades before by both Federal Governments and their Provincial Governments (where applicable).
Everyday in this country, 1000's of good, genuine, kind people are forced to starve, beg for help, lose their living places, go to the streets, end up in encampments 3/16
I Cite examples of actions and basis of actions you have taken in recent history.
You have acknowledged & stated Ontario recognizes its obligations in regards to the #CRPD (1/?)
On June 11, 2021 the Minister acting as head of #ODSP, Todd Smith acknowledges what their publicly released stats have stated, that the majority of those on ODSP cannot work. (hence, the entire point of the program)
Dear @cafreeland, let me save you four years, at least a thousand lives and $12,000,000 in 6 tweets or less.
Your going to commit $12,000,000 for discussions on how to include the most people possible and what to provide in a #Canada#disability benefit. It REALLY is #simple 1/6
In fact, it's SO simple that I'm using up extra words in my promised six tweets or less to highlight JUST how easy it is.
YOU'RE going to ask around, maybe get.. 200 or 300 opinions.. 80% will be from organizations. 70% of those will kiss your ass. half of the individuals 2/6
you ask will ask an opinion from, will ask for so much because they've had so little (for SO LONG) you'll discount them anyways. Here is what you need to do and how to do it. The next three tweets are simple. it's "How to do it" and "What to give" 3/6 #PWD#ODSP#SAID#AISH#CPPD
If I read #federalbudget of #Canada Correctly @cafreeland committed $12M over THREE YEARS to TALKING about how to implement a disability benefit some point in the future (maybe)
(But $13M to ensure MAID happens)
At this rate, with what the provinces are doing to #PWD@JustinTrudeau@cafreeland You won't have to worry about #MAID or a #Disabilities Benefit cause the problem is going to "Solve itself"
They Can't Afford to live NOW Damn it !
3 weeks to invent #CERB
4 YEARS to maybe help PWD
How many more times are they supposed to say
"Maybe next year, people will care"
How many more decades ?
How many more wasted PWD lives because
Canada won't put the well being disabled people equal to those who are "Able" ?
