Contrary to what will likely be popular opinion..
my take on this, Is I must ask you to withdraw this motion.

Why ?

It serves no beneficial function to the community.
If anything, if passed.. it stands to potentially harm them.

How ? 1/ (Thread) MOTION TEXT That, in the opinion of the House, the government should safeguard the Canada Disability Benefit from any potential clawbacks and engage in comprehensive consultations with the disability community to ensure the effective implementation of the Canada Disability Benefit by: (i) ensuring that the Canada Disability Benefit is adequate to lift people living with disabilities out of poverty, (ii) acknowledging the multitude of unseen expenses associated with living with a disability, which exacerbates financial strain, particularly amidst escalating costs of living and inflation cr... How it may potentially harm is if this passes the LPC could easily use this as the excuse for further delays of the #CanadaDisabilityBenefit in order to carry out your requested "comprehensive consultations with the disability community"

The time for this motion.. (next) 2/

@BonitaZarrillo, @TracyGrayKLC &
@LouiseChabotBQ..

Please #RatifyC22 the way in which #SOCI provided it and close the book on this chapter.

The insurance industry will NOT challenge the amendment, they didn't when it was used in the other case in the last 27 years. 1/ #RatifyC22 with all senate ... Even if they did for some reason think they could win and did decide to challenge it, the amendment is constitutional. It does not encroach on provincial jurisdiction because this IS a federal benefit.

Today's the first of two known committee sessions regarding Bill #C22, @ratnaomi @SenatorWanda @SenatorBurey @DonnaDasko @SenMarilou @lankin_f @StanKutcher @SenMoodie @drgigiosler @CPetitclerc so I want to offer one more thought on top of what I already sent you (included).. 1/ If you don't set a minimum standard of what the Canada Disability Benefit should provide, you ARE setting a maximum.

See, if it goes forward based on the way that Minister Qualtrough has been saying.. modeled on the GIS / OAS and to a specific dollar number that means.. 2/

I like Boston Pizza @bostonpizza. It's a welcoming place for people to go watch two adults beat each other up for money on a Saturday night while I eat my fries & wings and if I get drunk and fall asleep in the bushes outback, when I wake up I get a free live show at noon 1/ with my coffee as I wait for my wife & kid to pick me up.

Then, I get much better questions from my family when they do. Instead of "Dad, why do you have twigs in your hair ?" When I crash in the bushes of some other bar.. 2/

Question for @fordnation:
Hello Premier, Is there any plan for what's going to happen to #ODSP recipients remains after they start dropping like flies ?

5% As you must know, won't bring recipients back to where they were 8 months ago never mind 4 years ago. 1/
(CC: @CityCynthia) Grave yard, every tombstone has a disabled person logo on it Shown is the POST 5% amount you @fordnation have said you will provide (listed in 2022) however that won't even keep them at the $1169 you left them consigned them to 4 years ago. (2.6% percent reduction in ODSP buying power) 2/

LOL @AndreaHorwath
“There was a real sense of … disengagement,”
“People had had enough disruption and they just wanted to stand pat in terms of where they were in everyday life. And there was not a huge appetite for change.”

More people voted for change than "standing pat"
1/ And you want to talk about Disengagement ?
there were long stretches of time I thought we should have requested the US send in Seal Team Six to find where ever the hell you'd bunkered yourself up into.

People wanted change.
People wanted their lives better than today.

Come on @StevenDelDuca - You can do better for #ODSP than "10/10/2/2/2oh they died".

Play back our zoom from March 28th.
(you recorded it, right ?)

Listen to what the community has been through.
there's -NO- reason the OLP platform should be comparable to Fords 1/ #OntarioVotes Right now your tied for 4th best platform for #ODSP.

LONG term, Ford's is actually better.
because while you've got those two 10's..
you're gonna chase it forever with 2% ?

Ford's is horrible at 5% but it can never get worse with inflation indexing, yours can @StevenDelDuca 2/

Do you realize @fordnation that you have a legal obligation to ensure #ODSP is at a livable level that does not harm the community ?

@CityCynthia made you aware of the harm being done to recipients in Sept '20. Your 5% promise, shows acknowledgement but a lack of fulfilment. 1/ 215 (1)(c) (i)(ii) (2) (1)(b)

#OntarioElection2022 #OntarioVotes 🧵

ODSP max today for a single person is $1169

The NDP plan to raise it by just $200 a month until 2023

The OLP plan to raise it by just $116 a month, until 2023

The PC's, Say they'll raise it by $58 a month and then inflation only raises 1/ That same single person on ODSP bringing in $1169 today is at least $1000 short of reaching the poverty line EACH month. $1000 in the hole.

It's like everything you buy, costs double.
Could you afford your home if your rent / mortgage increased 100% ? and your food, phone ? 2/

I think now is as good a time as any, for some story time @cafreeland @JustinTrudeau @hrw

Why does it matter to me so damn much if you #BudgetForTheBenefit of Disabled Canadians ? 1/ It matters to me that we #BudgetForTheBenefit because I am a man of my word. It matters to me when I make a promise and I believe the country which I live in, should hold true to that same value.

If we won't keep our word to our own,
what good is our word to the world ? 2/

Dear @coteau, @MPPCoteau (also @PamDamoff, @EmmanuelDubourg & @SophieChatel1)

So, been a while Michael.
You got a promotion.
Nice !

I've sorta also, I'm now a level 3 pain in the ass. :)
Yet no matter how things change, they stay the same as well.

I need (all) your help.. 1/9 When last we spoke Face to.. public awareness commercial.. I was engaging you weekly for 10 weeks during the OLP Take the Mic sessions. Virtually every week, I would engage each week's topic with an alternate perspective and how it wraps into either ODSP or the Disabled pop. 2/9

Dear @jwaldag, @Shafqat_Ali_1, @AryaCanada & @JaimeBattiste

This past Friday was the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It is now the second which has come and gone with no tangible movement towards the promised "#CanadaDisabilityBenefit" while at the same time 1/9 It' the second year in a row that another Party has attempted to pass a Federal #Disability Benefit in which your party has rejected. If you want a short statement about my thoughts then it's simple.. "Shit or get off the pot".

I urge you to do so 1/16 with in your own parties, in public and to your fellow mp's across the room and sitting beside you in chambers.

This is an urgent issue which affects potentially Millions of Canadian Citizens who have been left behind and forgotten not just since the start of the pandemic 2/16

And

I Cite examples of actions and basis of actions you have taken in recent history.

You have acknowledged & stated Ontario recognizes its obligations in regards to the #CRPD (1/?) On June 11, 2021 the Minister acting as head of #ODSP, Todd Smith acknowledges what their publicly released stats have stated, that the majority of those on ODSP cannot work. (hence, the entire point of the program)

Dear @cafreeland, let me save you four years, at least a thousand lives and $12,000,000 in 6 tweets or less.

Your going to commit $12,000,000 for discussions on how to include the most people possible and what to provide in a #Canada #disability benefit. It REALLY is #simple 1/6 In fact, it's SO simple that I'm using up extra words in my promised six tweets or less to highlight JUST how easy it is.

YOU'RE going to ask around, maybe get.. 200 or 300 opinions.. 80% will be from organizations. 70% of those will kiss your ass. half of the individuals 2/6

If I read #federalbudget of #Canada Correctly
@cafreeland committed $12M over THREE YEARS to TALKING about how to implement a disability benefit some point in the future (maybe)
(But $13M to ensure MAID happens)

So no #inclusion & #inclusive recovery for #ODSP #CPPD #SAID #AISH At this rate, with what the provinces are doing to #PWD @JustinTrudeau @cafreeland You won't have to worry about #MAID or a #Disabilities Benefit cause the problem is going to "Solve itself"
They Can't Afford to live NOW Damn it !
3 weeks to invent #CERB
4 YEARS to maybe help PWD

@yyzsxm @Toulla101 @pawprints1986 @fordnation SO many things to hit at with this

There are 500,000 on #ODSP.
if its that easy, why are there only a couple hundred on here fighting, some of which aren't even ON odsp, their just fighting for those who are ?

What does that say about their ability to "tweet all day" ? 1/12 @yyzsxm @Toulla101 @pawprints1986 @fordnation do you know how much physical effort it takes to type out a tweet ? next to none. I can tweet with my left hand while brushing my tweet with my right while tap dancing if i was so inclined to do so.. do you think the people on ODSP are able to do the same ? 2/12

We could have been rid of this or at the least it could have been manageable. We could have had Halloween, Christmas with few problems if #DougFord'd just pumped the brakes. Dear @AndreaHorwath - Since becoming the official opposition party to Doug "We have no money for disabled" Ford you have sent Exactly 8 tweets that uses the terms disability / disabled / disabilities / odsp. Of those 8 tweets only 3 have been sent since the Covid Lockdown 1/11 In total, as far as can find there is only record of you sending 13 tweets since 2013 with any of those keywords.

0 discuss the poverty in which they find themselves FORCED into through no fault of their own.

0 times ODSP is actually used in a tweet sent by you
