Dear @Chris_Bittle@taylorbachrach@RichardBragdon@ValBradford_ I write the four of you who span party lines, all elected representatives of our government to support and petition you to advocate For the prioritization of the Canada #Disability Benefit. I urge you to do so 1/16
with in your own parties, in public and to your fellow mp's across the room and sitting beside you in chambers.
This is an urgent issue which affects potentially Millions of Canadian Citizens who have been left behind and forgotten not just since the start of the pandemic 2/16
But for decades before by both Federal Governments and their Provincial Governments (where applicable).
Everyday in this country, 1000's of good, genuine, kind people are forced to starve, beg for help, lose their living places, go to the streets, end up in encampments 3/16
and eventually, they just stop being.
either directly due to the lack of ability to simply pay for their living expenses, because their existing medical conditions worsen to the compound traumas of poverty, or because they commit self extinction 4/16
either by the means in which this government has now made easier for them to attain, or they do it themselves.
This is a humanitarian crisis which is taking place within our own boarders to our own people and it is happening on an on going basis without any sign of change. 5/16
The latest communication that the #Disabled Community is aware of is that Federal Government wishes to run a three year study prior to deploying the #CanadaDisabilityBenefit.
That is simply 3 more years of cruel, needless suffering and death by those who's only crime.. 6/16
is surviving a medical trauma or condition from birth.
Our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is violated every single day these citizens are told to wait for a three year study.
The CRPD which this country signed (Twice) in good faith,
is being violated monthly.. 7/16
with each and every cheque from a Canadian Government which provides Below poverty support.
We are better then this.
These are your brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, these could be your children..
Forced to endure unimaginable hardship because.. 8/16
That's it.
they have a #Disability which prevents them from working or working enough to be able to sustain themselves.
And because of that, these people are forced to cope with conditions which makes prison actually seem like an improvement. 9/16
In Prison, you get three meals a day..
You get medical treatment.
maybe even dental (don't know, never been)
A disabled person in "Social Assistance"'s next meal is not assured. it could be one meal a day.. it could be a meal once every several days.
We have the means 10/16
To end all or most of this needless, cruel, prejudicial, discriminatory suffering Next Week, if this country so chose to.
This was proven with CERB.
It took 3 weeks to deploy CERB, but you need #ThreeMoreYears for a #CanadaDisabilityBenefit ?
does this make sense to you ? 11/16
You have the entire resources of the entire history of the Canadian Government at your disposal.
You have statistical information spanning every community coast to coast for Decades..
You have advocates at your doors, telling you what they need but you need more time ? 12/16
Does this make any sense to you ?
There is no way that it can, because you are smarter than that. So I ask you to please use that intelligence, mix it with some compassion and help bring the change that this country and its citizens need.
13/16
Speeding up action on the #CanadaDisabilityBenefit will help the entirety of Canada, not just those who need the benefit.
Once deployed, every person who receives it will obviously start spending it creating an burst of new economic activity. 14/16
It will help small businesses bottom lines when up to 20% of the population all of a sudden can start buying more than Mr.Noodles and a loaf of bread.
This, will lower the burden on our health care system
This will lower the burden on our law enforcement system 15/16
That will lower the burden on the justice system.
It is a no lose scenario to speed up this action.
but it is a mass loss of life event if you don't.
"Simple" inaction will cause life altering or life ending harm.
Thank you for your time and any effort you may put forth. 16/16

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
I Cite examples of actions and basis of actions you have taken in recent history.
You have acknowledged & stated Ontario recognizes its obligations in regards to the #CRPD (1/?)
On June 11, 2021 the Minister acting as head of #ODSP, Todd Smith acknowledges what their publicly released stats have stated, that the majority of those on ODSP cannot work. (hence, the entire point of the program)
Dear @cafreeland, let me save you four years, at least a thousand lives and $12,000,000 in 6 tweets or less.
Your going to commit $12,000,000 for discussions on how to include the most people possible and what to provide in a #Canada#disability benefit. It REALLY is #simple 1/6
In fact, it's SO simple that I'm using up extra words in my promised six tweets or less to highlight JUST how easy it is.
YOU'RE going to ask around, maybe get.. 200 or 300 opinions.. 80% will be from organizations. 70% of those will kiss your ass. half of the individuals 2/6
you ask will ask an opinion from, will ask for so much because they've had so little (for SO LONG) you'll discount them anyways. Here is what you need to do and how to do it. The next three tweets are simple. it's "How to do it" and "What to give" 3/6 #PWD#ODSP#SAID#AISH#CPPD
If I read #federalbudget of #Canada Correctly @cafreeland committed $12M over THREE YEARS to TALKING about how to implement a disability benefit some point in the future (maybe)
(But $13M to ensure MAID happens)
At this rate, with what the provinces are doing to #PWD@JustinTrudeau@cafreeland You won't have to worry about #MAID or a #Disabilities Benefit cause the problem is going to "Solve itself"
They Can't Afford to live NOW Damn it !
3 weeks to invent #CERB
4 YEARS to maybe help PWD
How many more times are they supposed to say
"Maybe next year, people will care"
How many more decades ?
How many more wasted PWD lives because
Canada won't put the well being disabled people equal to those who are "Able" ?
There are 500,000 on #ODSP.
if its that easy, why are there only a couple hundred on here fighting, some of which aren't even ON odsp, their just fighting for those who are ?
What does that say about their ability to "tweet all day" ? 1/12
@yyzsxm@Toulla101@pawprints1986@fordnation do you know how much physical effort it takes to type out a tweet ? next to none. I can tweet with my left hand while brushing my tweet with my right while tap dancing if i was so inclined to do so.. do you think the people on ODSP are able to do the same ? 2/12
@yyzsxm@Toulla101@pawprints1986@fordnation you can literally tweet from the toilet while having an obstructed bowl attack.. do you think you could work, that you could put proper effort in to a job that someone would pay you for, while your stomach feels like its twisting inside out at random ? - (hint, nope !) 3/12
We could have been rid of this or at the least it could have been manageable. We could have had Halloween, Christmas with few problems if #DougFord'd just pumped the brakes.
(Text In image - Image shows a previous message warning #DougFord not to "Trump it" and open too soon, as well as the progression of cases in #Ontario, highlighting how we had cases down to 70 daily & now up to 1400 daily as well as dates that #covid related events happened) 2/6
Dear @AndreaHorwath - Since becoming the official opposition party to Doug "We have no money for disabled" Ford you have sent Exactly 8 tweets that uses the terms disability / disabled / disabilities / odsp. Of those 8 tweets only 3 have been sent since the Covid Lockdown 1/11
In total, as far as can find there is only record of you sending 13 tweets since 2013 with any of those keywords.
0 discuss the poverty in which they find themselves FORCED into through no fault of their own.
0 times ODSP is actually used in a tweet sent by you
2/11
It is bad enough having to deal with Ford stating publicly
on or around May 15th that there is sadly no money to help people on odsp (beyond the pathetic $100 short term bump that takes the people to 35% below poverty instead of 40%)
