I’m genuinely sorry to see what’s happening to the hospitality industry & the negative effects on so many livelihoods @ChefTomKerridge.
BUT 🏴hospitality bosses must be prepared to take some responsibility for the current precarious situation.

Since #FreedomDay I’ve been to Scotland, Majorca & Berlin.
In ALL, 😷wearing in indoor public spaces is routine, accepted & no one other than the 🏴 make a fuss!
All staff in hospitality #WearAMask & guests wear one when walking through the building/going to the loo.

Vaccine “passes” have not caused the ridiculous outrage seen here & no one has a hissy fit when asked to show proof of vaccination on entering a bar, restaurant, museum, theatre..bc it actually makes ppl feel safer!

Consumers would be less concerned if places they wanted to frequent during the pandemic felt safer, esp during the colder winter months.
Attention to ventilation is absolutely crucial & seeing staff wearing masks gives ppl confidence that their safety is of importance.

On a special celebratory trip last month my husband & I visited #Marlow & had meals in the Hand & Flowers and The Coach.
No masks, no social distancing, low ceilings, no windows open & no obvious ventilation.
TBH I was rather shocked!

I hope very much that Rishi Sunak takes urgent action to support & protect the hospitality industry at such an important time whilst giving customers the freedom to cancel bookings & protect their loved ones.

I’m only too aware of how this wave will justifiably worry the public & damage many businesses that have just about survived so far.
So I urge you in your capacity as a celebrity chef, to listen to the science of airborne transmission & push for the changes needed so badly.
