😷s are just 1 part of an array of mitigations needed in schools (+other indoor spaces) to ⬇️#COVID19 transmission.

#LivingWithCOVID is a complete misnomer, it’s a lazy, irresponsible, selfish & unscientific approach that’ll result in many AVOIDABLE deaths.

Whilst child deaths from #COVID19 are thankfully uncommon, did you know that 1 child per week has been dying in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿for many weeks now?
Many 1000s of children have #LongCovid & 100s have lost parents or v close relatives.

Let those numbers sink in @RobbieRinder .

Add to this the number of teaching staff who have died, have #LongCovid & the educational disruption caused by allowing the uncontrolled unmitigated spread of #COVID & you have a completely unsustainable situation that does the opposite of supporting children to be in school!

NO ONE enjoys having to #WearAMask, none of us in healthcare who have to wear them for many hrs each day ENJOY wearing a 😷 but we care enough about others around us & communities to tolerate such a small sacrifice.

As @melindacmills so brilliantly & eloquently explained today (& yesterday on @bbc5live talking to @TVNaga01) the evidence that masks reduce transmission is absolutely overwhelming & there is no evidence of the multitude of harms claimed by #UsForThemUK.

IF Molly & @ChristineBrett8 are so concerned about children’s wellbeing, why haven’t they put their energies into getting improved ventilation for all schools & into making sure ALL school children are vaccinated as soon as possible?

The expertise on ventilation is widely available. HEPA filters in classrooms & dining halls etc would make a v big difference yet #UsforThemUK never mention it?
Vaccination is safe, millions of children across the world have been safely vaccinated.
