The word that keeps popping up in discussions on whether the #NHS is/will be overwhelmed is ‘THRESHOLD’.

As a HCW I am keen to understand what the THRESHOLD for increasing PROTECTIONS is?

Is it the number of patients in intensive care units?

We all welcome the news that #Omicron appears to be causing less severe disease but hospital admissions for #COVID19 are clearly rising & this will still affect the ability to provide safe non-COVID care.

What about pressures on A+Es/UTCs & Primary Care?

Are the public expected to be ok w/ an “only go to A+E if you’re about to die” level of health care? & are HCWs just expected to take such levels of stress, exhaustion & moral injury “on the chin”?

You may have thanked #NHS staff but I’ve not heard the PM or any #Tory MP other than @jeremy_hunt (bizarre I know) acknowledge that letting #COVID19 rip through the population in an uncontrolled & mostly unmitigated way is taking such a toll on our physical & mental health.

The THRESHOLD clearly has nothing to do w/ the huge number of cases & ⬆️ hospitalisations in CHILDREN.

The situation in <18s, who’re mostly unvaccinated/partially vaccinated is of huge concern esp as 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿schools go back.

As a father these figures must concern you?

One must conclude that CV/CEV adults & kids aren’t part of the picture as despite record numbers of cases, 😷-wearing in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 is hit & miss, shielding’s ended & there’s been little/no attention to indoor ventilation, leaving few safe public places, incl schools!

Presumably those boldly declaring the situation in the #NHS is manageable & safe are not the ones giving the go ahead for NIGHTINGALE HUBS…that would be v odd indeed🤨?

To me, needing to recruit an army of recently retired HCWs & volunteers suggests this crisis is v serious?

From where I’m looking it seems to have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do w/ protecting the public from the ravages of acute #COVID, #LongCovid, avoidable bereavement/suffering, educational disruption or protecting the #NHS etc…
