Some facts on #Agnipath. A regular (permanent) lowest order soldier recruit in #IndianArmedForces earn a total of appoximately Rs 14 lakh in 4 years. #Agniveer will earn Rs 15.6 lakh plus Rs 11.5 lakh parting money, total Rs 27.1 lakh 1/4
#Agnipath is short service scheme for soldiers. For officers similar 5-year scheme exists since 1960's. Roughly 25% of #Indianarmedforces officers are on short service. This ceiling may be raised too. 2/4
Why #Bihar is most critical of #Agnipath? Bihar dies for govt service. This is linked to dowry (price) in marriage market. To capitalise social psyche, there is a parallel universe of 'coaching centres' who are blamed for running employment rackets 3/4
Fee charged by coaching centres for recruitment in army ranges from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. 75% of army stregth are in non-combative, technical disciplines. Higher 'coaching' price for these categories. #Agnipath is a threat to this ecosystem. 4/4

Who said #hesitancy was not a prob? My comorbid wife delayed taking shot by a month. Sr citizen neighbour pastered doctor son against vaccine. #Covaxin was not mocked? It was done till early April. Hesitancy was so common that bengal went slow on covax indent 1/n
Why all health staff, Sr xitizen didn't queue up 4 #vaccine in Feb-March? Centres wr idle. Data proves, Thr ws not equal push from all states either. All rushed 4 vax as #SecondWave struck. As in end April 50% on queue for vax wr above 60. This contributed to overcrowding. 2/n
Yes thr is now a #VaccineShortage. But part of it is perceived. Do we have enough manpower & other necessary infra to inoculate 3 USAs (90cr adult) at one go? V got feb-april. Cud USA vaccinate all in 3 months? On April 18, only 50% Americans wr vaccinated. De started ahead. 3/n

BJP's failure in winning 'intellectual' debate became most apparent in #CAA. Reason lies with party. I worked in this space 4 too long to kno how long term agendas are set. Why intellectualism is equated to #Left leaning among a section in #WestBangal & #India. 1/n
I have been consistent in saying that #CAA is a major correction to the historic neglect to human tragedies from sustained flight of #Hindu & other minority from #EastPakistan/#Bangladesh. It's unfinished job of #Partition. 2/n

We cannot call it #India-#Bangladesh prime ministerial meeting in true sense of the term, since #SheikhHasina came to the WEF meeting. The bilateral visit is scheduled later. However despite its limited scope I find the meeting very encouraging and beneficial for either side. 1/n

Some utter nonsense is peddled wrt #assamnrc. Illegal immigrants r determined by the IMDT Act 1983, which was introduced by Indira Gandhi in 1983 midway during assam agitation (1979-85). 1/n
#assamnrc between 1983 & 2019 NRC update, 1.17 lakh people r declared "illegal immigrants". Another 2 lakh cases under IMDT Act r pending taking total to 3 lakh. Over 1 lakh already lost voting rights as per 1997 HC order. 2/n
It means, there were 3 lakh declared/suspected illegal immigrants till #assamnrc was published. Over 1 lakh lost voting rights since 1997. And Guwahati HC denied citizenship to children of illegal immigrants. 3/n
