1/2 The situation around Europe's largest nuclear power plant remains worrying. #Russia still hasn't permitted the #UN or #IAEA into the #Zaporizhzhia plant in #Enerhodar.
That's usual for #Russia - they give themselves time to make the sire "clean" (move the artillery out!)
2/2 There have been reports online of a Russian General threatening to blow up the nuclear plant in #Enerhodar rather than let it be recaptured by #Ukraine.
I avoided reporting this and @TheStudyofWar now also considers it "fake news" and distracting
The Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian believes false reports of infrastructure in the country being mined and the increasing calls from some for Transdnistria to unite with Russia are vital signs:
#Ukraine again says no military targets were near the hits in Industrial zone where tram rails and a 2 storey building were damaged. No injuries.
No photos yet, but new cctv video of a missile smashing into a car in #Kharkov y'day
I'm sceptical about polls - it's all about how you phrase the question, so bear that in mind..
Over half of Russians believe the war has "dragged on" and most would be in favour of Putin ending the "special military operation" according to the Russian Field sociological service.
1/2 #Russia really is scraping the barrel now to convince the public 50,000 deaths is worthwhile in #PutinsWar.
They dredge up 77 years old documents to "prove" some Ukrainians were "plotting" with Nazis.
What they fail to say of course is that Russia plotted and aided Nazis..
2/2 ...from 1939-1941, Russian leaders signing pacts with Nazis.
Considering #Russia had murdered and carried out a genocide of 5-10 million Ukrainians (#Holodomor), it's not too surprising patriots would side with anyone to try to break free from the tyranny of the Soviet Union
This is definitely NOT someone burning toast in #Kherson. Looks like another far more serious problem for the invaders from #Russia.
Blue skies and smoke over Russian bases is just about the perfect start to the day for #Ukraine's patriots.
While before sunrise in #Donetsk oblast it looks as though #HIMARS may have struck a Russian base in #Volnovakha. That's midway between Donetsk and Mariupol'
Another exchange of bodies has occurred between the two sides. This time 17 bodies of fallen Ukrainian and Russian soldiers were passed back to the respective sides.
The @nytimes immediately said the explosions in #Crimea were the work of #Ukraine's armed forces.
This may still be possible, and for Russia it could be embarrassing to admit.
However Kyiv states "The MoD cannot establish the cause of the fire"
#Ukraine, a democratic nation, desperate to keep it that way, remains under intense pressure from #Russia, an autocracy led by a despot and indicted war criminal.
All the news all day long in one handy thread. Read on..
#StandWithUkraine
Yesterday we only really had two stories, but they were big ones.
#Putin exiling & side-lining top names from the Kremlin.
And 25 years after the #Russia apartment bombings, 13 were killed in a new attack - but who did it?
Review the news here:
Hello and welcome to Day 807 of #Russia's war on #Ukraine.
Each day documenting the news and war crimes committed by indicted war criminal Putin and his Moscow horde as the neo-imperialists try to steal more land and wipe out another culture.
Here's another daily thread...
As always, the quick link back to the starts of yesterday's thread for those who missed some, or all, of Thursday's developments.
And right at the end of the day we saw another oil target inside #Russia being hit by drones!
So confirmation of another attack on an oil refinery in #Russia, the second in 2 months at this partuicular site.
Pershiy Zavod is the largest refinery in the region - the main complex for the processing of commercial oil and gas condensate, and the capacity is 1.2m tons/yr
Day 803 of #Russia's full invasion continues. The war criminals are super confident, tossing away lives of the plebs and useful idiots from Asia, Africa + the Americas.
But #Ukraine fights hard for its existence and supplies filter through to the frontlines.
This is the daily🧵
Today is a holiday in most of the UK, so I allowed myself a later start (no school run!)
Coming up news of #Ukraine hitting a Rusdian boat...
But first the link to yesterday's thread, which turned out to be quite busy.
Many across Europe celebrate a holiday today, the first day of May.
In normal times in #Ukraine it would be a big celebration, with Labour Day followed by Easter and Remembrance/Victory Day. But these are far from normal times. No respite from war. Welcome to the daily thread:
Tuesday saw #Russia's world bring more death to #Kharkiv and to #Odesa for the second time in two days - a video proving the sickening cluster bomb attack on the people the day before.
All yesterday's news can be found here if you missed anything:
Welcome to Sunday morning.
I'm starting early for the daily thread on Day 760 of #Russia's full invasion of its peaceful and sovereign neighbour #Ukraine.
There is a big danger of another missile attack from Russian aircraft. Follow for all the news all day (and night!)
It proved another marathon thread (almost 70 posts) on Saturday with the consequences of the #Kransogorsk terrorist attack dominating the agenda.
Playing catch-up? Click and scroll from the start, right here:
Across #Ukraine, millions are on tenterhooks. Anyone asleep will soon be woken by air alarms, with monitors sensing launches of cruise missiles from #Russian planes.
Meanwhile attack drones are also causing problems. Explosions recently in #Lviv but these seem to be air defence
