It's the daily thread of #Russia's war on #Ukraine.
We are at day 167, soon we will reach 6 months since the illegal invasion.

It was a mercifully quiet night in Ukraine, but if you missed any of yesterday's news, check back through the thread here:

1/2
The situation around Europe's largest nuclear power plant remains worrying. #Russia still hasn't permitted the #UN or #IAEA into the #Zaporizhzhia plant in #Enerhodar.

That's usual for #Russia - they give themselves time to make the sire "clean" (move the artillery out!)
2/2
There have been reports online of a Russian General threatening to blow up the nuclear plant in #Enerhodar rather than let it be recaptured by #Ukraine.

I avoided reporting this and @TheStudyofWar now also considers it "fake news" and distracting

understandingwar.org/backgrounder/r…
#Russia has been firing from the nuclear plant virtually every day towards the #Ukraine town of #Nikopol.

Overnight another 120 shells launched according to Dnipropetrovsk Governor Valentyn Reznichenko.
No deaths and just one civilian injured.

#Moldova fears it will be #Russia's next target.

The Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian believes false reports of infrastructure in the country being mined and the increasing calls from some for Transdnistria to unite with Russia are vital signs:

odessa-journal.com/moldova-believ…
In #Kharkiv 4 missiles land early this morning.

#Ukraine again says no military targets were near the hits in Industrial zone where tram rails and a 2 storey building were damaged. No injuries.

No photos yet, but new cctv video of a missile smashing into a car in #Kharkov y'day
I'm sceptical about polls - it's all about how you phrase the question, so bear that in mind..

Over half of Russians believe the war has "dragged on" and most would be in favour of Putin ending the "special military operation" according to the Russian Field sociological service.
1/2
#Russia really is scraping the barrel now to convince the public 50,000 deaths is worthwhile in #PutinsWar.

They dredge up 77 years old documents to "prove" some Ukrainians were "plotting" with Nazis.

What they fail to say of course is that Russia plotted and aided Nazis.. Image
2/2
...from 1939-1941, Russian leaders signing pacts with Nazis.

Considering #Russia had murdered and carried out a genocide of 5-10 million Ukrainians (#Holodomor), it's not too surprising patriots would side with anyone to try to break free from the tyranny of the Soviet Union
This is definitely NOT someone burning toast in #Kherson. Looks like another far more serious problem for the invaders from #Russia.

Blue skies and smoke over Russian bases is just about the perfect start to the day for #Ukraine's patriots.

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine Image
Looks like #Ukraine's rockets are causing a lot of damage in #Kherson already.

The base at Novoalekseevka is really getting going now.

#StopRussiaNOW
Targets also being hit by #Ukraine it seems in occupied #Donetsk region.

This is from the Kuibyshevskyi district of the city a short while ago.

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussianAggression Image
While before sunrise in #Donetsk oblast it looks as though #HIMARS may have struck a Russian base in #Volnovakha. That's midway between Donetsk and Mariupol'

#StopRussia
Over the last month, #Russia, on its most successful front, managed to advance only 300m a day.

That's the assessment today from British Intelligence.

#StopRussiaNOW #StandWithUkraine Image
A bumper "crop" of Russian soldiers for #Ukraine yesterday.

This is mainly as a result of the multiple #HIMARS strikes on Russian bases in #Kherson and #Donetsk the night before last.

#StopRussianAggression Image
Another exchange of bodies has occurred between the two sides. This time 17 bodies of fallen Ukrainian and Russian soldiers were passed back to the respective sides.

#StandWithUkraine
A man who was injured after a rocket attack in #Uman' yesterday, has today died of his injuries.

Debris from the missile fell on him when air defence hit the missile in the central #Ukraine city.

In #Kherson region, reports of an explosion in #NovayaMayachka.

Certainly air defence is active in the occupied region.

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine
So I took a flight and it all kicked off in #Crimea while I was offline!

Big explosions at the Saki military airfield on the occupied peninsula.

Initially #Russia blamed #Ukraine however they now say "a violation of fire safety regulations" caused this:

#StopRussia
#Ukraine also distanced itself from the fireball in #Novofedorivka on #Crimea

Satellite photos show 43 aircraft were at Saki just before the catastrophe. Obviously #Russia says none was damaged!

Considering they admit 9 people are injured it seems unlikely all aircraft escaped
#Crimea - there was plenty of damage from blasts in nearby apartment blocks following the blast at the Saki military air base.

Two warehouses of weapons seems to have been ignited.

If a military strike is ruled out, it raises the very real possibility of sabotage.

#StopRussia ImageImage
The @nytimes immediately said the explosions in #Crimea were the work of #Ukraine's armed forces.
This may still be possible, and for Russia it could be embarrassing to admit.

However Kyiv states "The MoD cannot establish the cause of the fire"

facebook.com/10006907384482…
So, #Russia's claims that no aircraft were damaged don't look to be holding up too well!

Same lies as always. What a great day for #Ukraine if the majority of their jets, helicopters and weapons at the Saki airfield have gone up in smoke.

Day 1605 of the war in Europe.

Eyes on the war in Ukraine have been dragged from the frontlines to political battles in Kyiv. It's Day 2 of public protests against Zelenskyy's siding with a Soviet-era General against a young Defence Minister.

This is Friday's daily thread:
The People of Ukraine mobilised on to the streets yesterday, for the first time since forcing Zelenskyy to back down over his attempts to silence NABU, the anti-corruption agency.

But lots more news too on Thursday. Click the link to see what you missed

Let's start with Tanker Bingo!

12 more Russian vessels 'caught fire' in the night, with a little help from Magyar and his team, piloting 'birds' to their targets.

All today's hits were in the Black Sea:
9 dry cargo ships
1 tanker
1 gas tanker
1 tugboat

Please go easy on me today as I start the daily thread on Day 1604. I think I am suffering from DIMS.

Double Incompetent Management Syndrome - resulting in losing a football match and a very good, well respected reformer as Head of Ukraine's Ministry of Defence.

OK, let's go..
There's already huge fall out over the make up of 🇺🇦 new cabinet, particularly the sacking of Mykhailo Fedorov as Defence Min.

The rumours were true. Zelenskyy confirmed his decision last night.
Ukraine still had time to attack a 🇷🇺airbase.
Catch up here
I've just been listening to, and transcribing, Mykhailo Fedorov, who happened to be scheduled to speak this morning.

Here's what he had to say, in the wake of his sacking as Defence Minister: Image

Another 100 days of war is completed as we reach Day 1600 of Russia's all-out invasion.

100 days is a long time to be fighting for your life, yet now it's "just another 100" not even a real milestone.

Think of that as we delve into another Ukraine news thread,
I'm maybe the only person to compile a daily🧵every single day of the 1600

So much has changed since we reached 100 days - click here if you wish to take a trip down memory lane

At that time <31k 🇷🇺casualties. Continuing at that rate =495k. Instead 1.4m
Here's the more traditional link, back to the start of yesterday's thread. Saturday was a day which saw more Russian ships fail to outrun Ukraine's drones and the establishment of the "Magyar Triangle"

Loads of news yesterday, and you should check it out

I'll quote a favourite saying in Ukraine.
Day 1579 of Russia's war 'didn't start with coffee' especially in occupied Crimea.

Here comes another of my daily threads, with all the important news from Ukraine, and I've still not missed a single day.
Those with me just a few hours ago will already know the early hours saw a huge attack on Crimea.

Before that more war crimes from Russia, while the Poland-Ukraine spat spirals out of control.
Missed anything? Here's the link to catch-up:

Many targets in Crimea have been hit, indeed on both sides of the illegal bridge linking Russia with the annexed peninsula.

Energy infrastructure have been hit, causing power cuts in Sevastopol, Alushta, Krasnoperekopsk + Armiansk among others.

Half of June has already gone and still no resolution to the war in Ukraine. But Moscow is reaping what is sows.

This is THE daily thread for Tuesday - all the news every single day.

We've reached Day 1574
I keep garnering new followers, but X keeps taking followers away without them choosing to unfollow.
But daily views of the thread are slowly increasing again, now around 12k a day.
But we used to be at 25-30k

Y'day was another important and long thread:
1/2
Ukraine delivered a message to Moscow during the night. The message was delivered by Dr One in spectacular fashion.

Here's the translated meaning of Magyar's team, the day after Ukraine's most important religious site was hit by the war criminals. Image

It's Day 1573 and the attempted genocide by Russia continued through the night.

Killing the people of Ukraine, its first responders and the most sacred religious site in the country.

The world looks on, shaking its head. If Putin's Nazism isn't stopped, it will reach you soon.
This is THE daily thread with fact-checked news of everything that's happening in Ukraine (and Russia).

The overnight attack by Russia was already underway when I finished Sunday's thread - here's the link if you missed anything on a busy day:

1/3
The main temple of Kyiv-Perchersk Lavra is over 1,000 years old.

The Assumption Cathedral was built in 1078, three centuries before Moscow existed.

The Mongols badly damaged it in the 13th century.
700 years later it was blown up in WWII
Now the new Nazi invaders did this:
