It's the daily thread of #Russia's war on #Ukraine.
We are at day 167, soon we will reach 6 months since the illegal invasion.

It was a mercifully quiet night in Ukraine, but if you missed any of yesterday's news, check back through the thread here:

1/2
The situation around Europe's largest nuclear power plant remains worrying. #Russia still hasn't permitted the #UN or #IAEA into the #Zaporizhzhia plant in #Enerhodar.

That's usual for #Russia - they give themselves time to make the sire "clean" (move the artillery out!)
2/2
There have been reports online of a Russian General threatening to blow up the nuclear plant in #Enerhodar rather than let it be recaptured by #Ukraine.

I avoided reporting this and @TheStudyofWar now also considers it "fake news" and distracting

understandingwar.org/backgrounder/r…
#Russia has been firing from the nuclear plant virtually every day towards the #Ukraine town of #Nikopol.

Overnight another 120 shells launched according to Dnipropetrovsk Governor Valentyn Reznichenko.
No deaths and just one civilian injured.

#Moldova fears it will be #Russia's next target.

The Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian believes false reports of infrastructure in the country being mined and the increasing calls from some for Transdnistria to unite with Russia are vital signs:

odessa-journal.com/moldova-believ…
In #Kharkiv 4 missiles land early this morning.

#Ukraine again says no military targets were near the hits in Industrial zone where tram rails and a 2 storey building were damaged. No injuries.

No photos yet, but new cctv video of a missile smashing into a car in #Kharkov y'day
I'm sceptical about polls - it's all about how you phrase the question, so bear that in mind..

Over half of Russians believe the war has "dragged on" and most would be in favour of Putin ending the "special military operation" according to the Russian Field sociological service.
1/2
#Russia really is scraping the barrel now to convince the public 50,000 deaths is worthwhile in #PutinsWar.

They dredge up 77 years old documents to "prove" some Ukrainians were "plotting" with Nazis.

What they fail to say of course is that Russia plotted and aided Nazis.. Image
2/2
...from 1939-1941, Russian leaders signing pacts with Nazis.

Considering #Russia had murdered and carried out a genocide of 5-10 million Ukrainians (#Holodomor), it's not too surprising patriots would side with anyone to try to break free from the tyranny of the Soviet Union
This is definitely NOT someone burning toast in #Kherson. Looks like another far more serious problem for the invaders from #Russia.

Blue skies and smoke over Russian bases is just about the perfect start to the day for #Ukraine's patriots.

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine Image
Looks like #Ukraine's rockets are causing a lot of damage in #Kherson already.

The base at Novoalekseevka is really getting going now.

#StopRussiaNOW
Targets also being hit by #Ukraine it seems in occupied #Donetsk region.

This is from the Kuibyshevskyi district of the city a short while ago.

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussianAggression Image
While before sunrise in #Donetsk oblast it looks as though #HIMARS may have struck a Russian base in #Volnovakha. That's midway between Donetsk and Mariupol'

#StopRussia
Over the last month, #Russia, on its most successful front, managed to advance only 300m a day.

That's the assessment today from British Intelligence.

#StopRussiaNOW #StandWithUkraine Image
A bumper "crop" of Russian soldiers for #Ukraine yesterday.

This is mainly as a result of the multiple #HIMARS strikes on Russian bases in #Kherson and #Donetsk the night before last.

#StopRussianAggression Image
Another exchange of bodies has occurred between the two sides. This time 17 bodies of fallen Ukrainian and Russian soldiers were passed back to the respective sides.

#StandWithUkraine
A man who was injured after a rocket attack in #Uman' yesterday, has today died of his injuries.

Debris from the missile fell on him when air defence hit the missile in the central #Ukraine city.

In #Kherson region, reports of an explosion in #NovayaMayachka.

Certainly air defence is active in the occupied region.

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine
So I took a flight and it all kicked off in #Crimea while I was offline!

Big explosions at the Saki military airfield on the occupied peninsula.

Initially #Russia blamed #Ukraine however they now say "a violation of fire safety regulations" caused this:

#StopRussia
#Ukraine also distanced itself from the fireball in #Novofedorivka on #Crimea

Satellite photos show 43 aircraft were at Saki just before the catastrophe. Obviously #Russia says none was damaged!

Considering they admit 9 people are injured it seems unlikely all aircraft escaped
#Crimea - there was plenty of damage from blasts in nearby apartment blocks following the blast at the Saki military air base.

Two warehouses of weapons seems to have been ignited.

If a military strike is ruled out, it raises the very real possibility of sabotage.

#StopRussia ImageImage
The @nytimes immediately said the explosions in #Crimea were the work of #Ukraine's armed forces.
This may still be possible, and for Russia it could be embarrassing to admit.

However Kyiv states "The MoD cannot establish the cause of the fire"

facebook.com/10006907384482…
So, #Russia's claims that no aircraft were damaged don't look to be holding up too well!

Same lies as always. What a great day for #Ukraine if the majority of their jets, helicopters and weapons at the Saki airfield have gone up in smoke.

Hello again. Day 1203 of Russia's genocidal war in Ukraine

Anyone with a brain slightly larger than that of a chihuahua knows it. Russian history and Putin's own words spelt it out, but peaceniks, Naziniks and idiotniks are still in denial

More proof coming up in🧵for Day 1203
Yesterday's thread lasted well over 24 hours, but nothing to be proud of.

I know I'm crazier than you, and thankfully you all have lives to live. So you will be needing the link to the start of yesterday's thread so you can catch up on what you missed..

Genocide - a short thread within a🧵
I am simply staggered governments and world organisations are too weak to acknowledge the mountain of evidence.

The recent huge missile attacks should be enough, but useful idiots are fooled by Russia's plausible deniability.

A very early start to my daily thread on Day 1202 of Russia's 3 day 'special operation' to capture Kyiv.

It's so special Putin just doesn't want it to stop!

It's another no-sleep night as I start Monday's news feed on all things Ukraine.

Thanks for your support, I rely on you
Another huge Russian attack continues as I type. It could be the biggest yet.

The attack started about half way through yesterday's thread! So catch up here if you're just waking up.

The biggest problem in Ukraine tonight has been for Dubno, in Rivne region.

Heavily attacked in the evening, but now as light bathes the town, it's even worse. All cruise missiles in Ukraine are about to hit, and 3 drones too.

Day 1201 of Europe's war.
But the pre-conflict hybrid war has already been waging worldwide for years. Hacking, election interference, sabotage - we're all targeted by Russia, even if we don't all realise it yet.

Ukraine can stop the war criminal with our help.
Welcome to the🧵
Maybe Sunday will bless Ukraine with a quiet day?

Saturday was another full-on journalistic stint, catching sleep when I could.
Kharkiv shattered overnight then a daytime attack on a kids' railway.
Operation Web 2.0 & a factory hit in Russia.
It's all ⬇️

Early this morning, just before the end of the previous thread I showed the Azot chemical plant in Tula region on fire.
Not long afterwards, Ukraine hit another facility, this time in Russia-controlled 🇺🇦

This is the Hydromash factory in Melitopol' in occupied Zaporizhzhia.

Welcome to yet another daily thread covering all things Ukraine and Russia.

It's Day 1195 and the day of the latest talks between the sides in Istanbul.

But all the buzz is still about one of the most incredible and successful military attacks ever, and Russia is hurting.
Ukraine's astonishingly well planned, daring and audacious attack is front page news around the world this morning.

If somehow you don't know what I am writing about, you're in for a treat. Re-live the extraordinary day by scrolling through Sunday's🧵⬇️

First important news from Poland where the Presidential election has been won by the anti-EU, anti-Ukraine candidate, right-wing Nawrocki

Despite gaining under than 51% of the vote, the tRUmp-aligned Nawrocki can now veto any legislation passed by @donaldtusk & the liberal govt Image

Day 1194 of Putin's war, though let's remember the initial invasion came 11 years ago.

Since February 2014, not once have western sanctions or military support come close to being enough to restore justice and defeat evil.

Welcome to THE daily 🇺🇦 thread for Sunday 1 June
A new day, a new season. Summer officially started, but nothing is likely to change just yet.

Y'day's thread had some great stories, but everything paled into insignificance when justy before midnight came news of a disaster in Russia's Bryansk region:
1/5
I want to start with events in Bryansk region.
What's happened is a tragedy even if you believe all Russians are partly to blame for the war.

7 people died - five passengers on a train and 2 in a truck. 69 were injured.

The lorry crashed down when the bridge collapsed.

Another night of no sleep yet - dramatic action in Moscow.

Time to start another daily thread covering everything to do with Putin's disastrous 'operation' in Ukraine.

It's 5am in Russia and Ukraine, on Day 1190 of the war.
Let's begin...
I've still NEVER missed even one day since the start of Russia's full invasion.

But yesterday's thread ended up being one of the most lively. Another near 50-post story of the day, and if you like seeing "bavovna" in Russia, go right through to the end!
1/3
Russia says 33 drones have been shot down approaching Moscow during the night.

The biggest incident is clearly this at the Mikron micro-electronics plant in Zelenograd, in Moscow oblast...
