It's the daily thread of #Russia's war on #Ukraine.
We are at day 167, soon we will reach 6 months since the illegal invasion.

It was a mercifully quiet night in Ukraine, but if you missed any of yesterday's news, check back through the thread here:

1/2
The situation around Europe's largest nuclear power plant remains worrying. #Russia still hasn't permitted the #UN or #IAEA into the #Zaporizhzhia plant in #Enerhodar.

That's usual for #Russia - they give themselves time to make the sire "clean" (move the artillery out!)
2/2
There have been reports online of a Russian General threatening to blow up the nuclear plant in #Enerhodar rather than let it be recaptured by #Ukraine.

I avoided reporting this and @TheStudyofWar now also considers it "fake news" and distracting

understandingwar.org/backgrounder/r…
#Russia has been firing from the nuclear plant virtually every day towards the #Ukraine town of #Nikopol.

Overnight another 120 shells launched according to Dnipropetrovsk Governor Valentyn Reznichenko.
No deaths and just one civilian injured.

#Moldova fears it will be #Russia's next target.

The Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian believes false reports of infrastructure in the country being mined and the increasing calls from some for Transdnistria to unite with Russia are vital signs:

odessa-journal.com/moldova-believ…
In #Kharkiv 4 missiles land early this morning.

#Ukraine again says no military targets were near the hits in Industrial zone where tram rails and a 2 storey building were damaged. No injuries.

No photos yet, but new cctv video of a missile smashing into a car in #Kharkov y'day
I'm sceptical about polls - it's all about how you phrase the question, so bear that in mind..

Over half of Russians believe the war has "dragged on" and most would be in favour of Putin ending the "special military operation" according to the Russian Field sociological service.
1/2
#Russia really is scraping the barrel now to convince the public 50,000 deaths is worthwhile in #PutinsWar.

They dredge up 77 years old documents to "prove" some Ukrainians were "plotting" with Nazis.

What they fail to say of course is that Russia plotted and aided Nazis.. Image
2/2
...from 1939-1941, Russian leaders signing pacts with Nazis.

Considering #Russia had murdered and carried out a genocide of 5-10 million Ukrainians (#Holodomor), it's not too surprising patriots would side with anyone to try to break free from the tyranny of the Soviet Union
This is definitely NOT someone burning toast in #Kherson. Looks like another far more serious problem for the invaders from #Russia.

Blue skies and smoke over Russian bases is just about the perfect start to the day for #Ukraine's patriots.

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine Image
Looks like #Ukraine's rockets are causing a lot of damage in #Kherson already.

The base at Novoalekseevka is really getting going now.

#StopRussiaNOW
Targets also being hit by #Ukraine it seems in occupied #Donetsk region.

This is from the Kuibyshevskyi district of the city a short while ago.

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussianAggression Image
While before sunrise in #Donetsk oblast it looks as though #HIMARS may have struck a Russian base in #Volnovakha. That's midway between Donetsk and Mariupol'

#StopRussia
Over the last month, #Russia, on its most successful front, managed to advance only 300m a day.

That's the assessment today from British Intelligence.

#StopRussiaNOW #StandWithUkraine Image
A bumper "crop" of Russian soldiers for #Ukraine yesterday.

This is mainly as a result of the multiple #HIMARS strikes on Russian bases in #Kherson and #Donetsk the night before last.

#StopRussianAggression Image
Another exchange of bodies has occurred between the two sides. This time 17 bodies of fallen Ukrainian and Russian soldiers were passed back to the respective sides.

#StandWithUkraine
A man who was injured after a rocket attack in #Uman' yesterday, has today died of his injuries.

Debris from the missile fell on him when air defence hit the missile in the central #Ukraine city.

In #Kherson region, reports of an explosion in #NovayaMayachka.

Certainly air defence is active in the occupied region.

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine
So I took a flight and it all kicked off in #Crimea while I was offline!

Big explosions at the Saki military airfield on the occupied peninsula.

Initially #Russia blamed #Ukraine however they now say "a violation of fire safety regulations" caused this:

#StopRussia
#Ukraine also distanced itself from the fireball in #Novofedorivka on #Crimea

Satellite photos show 43 aircraft were at Saki just before the catastrophe. Obviously #Russia says none was damaged!

Considering they admit 9 people are injured it seems unlikely all aircraft escaped
#Crimea - there was plenty of damage from blasts in nearby apartment blocks following the blast at the Saki military air base.

Two warehouses of weapons seems to have been ignited.

If a military strike is ruled out, it raises the very real possibility of sabotage.

#StopRussia ImageImage
The @nytimes immediately said the explosions in #Crimea were the work of #Ukraine's armed forces.
This may still be possible, and for Russia it could be embarrassing to admit.

However Kyiv states "The MoD cannot establish the cause of the fire"

facebook.com/10006907384482…
So, #Russia's claims that no aircraft were damaged don't look to be holding up too well!

Same lies as always. What a great day for #Ukraine if the majority of their jets, helicopters and weapons at the Saki airfield have gone up in smoke.

Day 1487 of Russia's 3-day Special Military Operation.
I wonder if Trump's slavish following of Putin will mean his own S.M.O. reaches 4 years?

But I am here to bring all the Ukraine news, as I have done EVERY SINGLE DAY since even before the full invasion. KoFi always welcome!
You may know I am in the middle of a tough 10-days of tennis comms, school commitments and parenting duties.

I read every comment, try to reply to all serious ones and credit all sponsors, but I am behind right now as I prioritise the news stories/🧵

I will catch up!💙💛
Thankfully, it's been a reasonably quiet news week, but a lot of Russians are dying at the front - with almost no noticeable land gains.

And Ukraine's concerted attacks on air defence is now reaping rewards. More targets struck overnight, catch up here:

Finally, I am here to start the Ukraine daily thread for Sunday 15 March. My body has recovered from self-inflicted sleep deprivation.

It's Day 1481 of the full Russian invasion.
All the important news, here in one place, every day.
Coming up, news of more Ukraine strikes, and how Zelenskyy delicately tries to say Trump is lying.

First though the link back to the start of yesterday's thread, which started with horrific scenes but again saw many good tactical strikes by Ukraine:

It's Oscars Day and #TeamTim is cheering for Pasha!

When the awards are handed out in LA tonight, we are hoping 'Mr Nobody' takes the documentary prize.

Apologies if this is geo-restricted by the BBC but this is a nice report I wanted to share:

It's Day 1451 of the attempt to wipe Ukraine off the map/

Russian athletes compete at the #WinterOlympics while a Ukrainian athlete is in court right now trying to overturn his ban.

This is THE daily thread. Facts not fabrication. Proof not propaganda. Every single day.
Here's the link for the start of yesterday's thread, for those playing catch-up.

A day dominated by the IOC's own goal, but more, regular attacks by Russia day and night.

Another tragedy/massacre in Ukraine, with at least four civilians killed in another Russian airstrike.

It happened in Kramatorsk in free Donetsk.
Three of those killed were under 21 years of age, the other victim was in his 60s.

The war in Europe continues. This is Day 1445 of Russia's attempt to erase Ukraine from the map & destroy its language and culture.

The genocide continues as I type, with a massive missile attack underway.

For all the news as it happens, keep checking back. This is THE daily🧵
Yesterday started with a supposed assassination attempt on another very senior Russian soldier.

A load of other great stories too, including the start of the overnight attack on Ukraine's remaining energy facilities. Catch up on what you missed here:

Having seen around 200 attack drones flying at the height of Russia's attack tonight, there are now around half that.

Day 1444 of Russia's merciless war has begun with the invaders losing another Lieutenant General - has Ukraine's special services struck again?

Detail on all the stories, all day, every day in my daily thread. Let's Go!
Thursday's thread included the release of a relatively small number of POWs - but finally some Azov fighters were freed.

And double delight for Ukraine tennis fans, to offset a little of the pain of more Russian attacks.
If you missed anything, click⬇️

So, Russia's reporting (which doesn't necessarily make it true) that one of the most senior Generals has been shot.

Lt Gen Vladimir Alekseev is said to be alive and in hospital after the attack in Moscow.

What makes me a little suspicious is there are no photos from the scene. Image

It's Monday, the second day of the 2nd month.
Day 1440 of Russia's illegal full invasion of its sovereign neighbour.

As we approach another round of "peace talks", Russia seems to be preparing by committing an ever growing number of sickening war crimes.

This is THE daily🧵
Yesterday was one of those days when I was repeatedly sickened by the actions of the monsters from Moscow.

The "energy truce" broken by attacking a bus of civilian miners heading to work. A medical building inc. a maternity unit hit, and more
Review here
Monday is a day of mourning in Dnipropetrovsk region following the deliberate targeting of a bus in the small town of Ternivka, near Pavlohrad.

16 people were killed. Another 14 are in hospital, seven of whom are in a serious condition.
