Here is the daily thread for Day 281, with #Russia now 9 months behind schedule in its plan to conquer #Ukraine & kill the democratically elected President.
Thursday's already started violently. News on the latest attack on Ukraine and all the developments in one handy thread⬇️
If you missed anything from yesterday, including evening explosions in occupied #Donetsk, here's the start of Wednesday's thread - scroll through at your leisure!
I must apologise for not being able to send individual thank yous to our top contributors to our #Ukraine fundraiser
As you know the goods were received by the troops (see photos) on the frontline in the east. They're busy and using power sparingly, but I'm trying to nudge them!
Personal news: I'm heading to #Ukraine next week. It takes more planning & is way more expensive than it used to be!
I need extra power banks + a solar panel for charging, costing £100. I'll donate it when I leave Ukraine. If you want to make a donation: ko-fi.com/twmcltd
The US Ministry of Defense has concluded a deal to manufacture NASAMS for #Ukraine.
The $1.2m deal went to @RaytheonTech with the official announcement listed first on this link:
A #Ukraine state TV channel reports that #Russia's invaders ATE animals at a zoo under Occupation.
They claim soldiers from the Terrorist State entered Yampil zoo, killing and devouring bison, deer and ostriches. The troops also starved a camel and wolves.
#Ukraine's Intelligence and Security Services show materials they found during the raid on the monastery of the Moscow Patriarch in Transcarpathia in west Ukraine.
Priests there called for the "awakening of Mother #Russia" and saw literature denying Ukraine's right to exist.
My heartfelt thanks to @Tango9_Ali and Naren for their donations to help me in #Ukraine next week.
If you can help, click the link in my bio. 💙💛🇺🇦🇬🇧
Developments in #Belarus - with the obvious fear that the country is about to invade #Ukraine.
It's known that a band of #Russia's top generals and an a mystery VIP have all flown to Belarus,
But Ukraine believes it's just a ruse to divert weapons north
All of #Ukraine is under an air warning yet again.
It probably means #Russia's planes are active.
We hope it's not the feared missile attack from the Terrorist State's bombers at the Engels Air Base near Saratov.
#Ukraine confirms what social media reports suggested for a while - #Russia's army is leaving some villages on the banks of the river #Dnipro in #Kherson.
UA Defence says most of the Russian troops still in the area were recently mobilised; most better-trained have already left.
Tony and Maury, thanks for supporting me on Ko-Fi

Of course there's more shelling of #Kherson again today, and it's continuing right now too.
We were surprised to see @BearGrylls turn up in #Kyiv and many asked "what's he doing there?"
Well the survival expert was invited to meet the President today. They went downtown to check out one of #Ukraine's new "invincibility points" for emergency heat/power during blackouts.
Thank you so much Dorothy and @jrodwyer for your very generous support on my Ko-Fi page this afternoon, ahead of my trip to #Ukraine.
And for their tip offs my appreciation to Ali, Andy and Carolynne.
Explosions this evening in the south of #Kharkiv region.
#Russia is attacking #Chuhuiv with rockets hitting the town.
Day 1261 - the White House thinks the war in Ukraine is coming to an end.
Especially as the Kremlin has this morning announced Putin and Trump will meet in the coming days.
But is the war criminal just duping the US Pres again and buying more time?
Follow me & today's thread:
Much of Wednesday was taken up with the politics surrounding US envoy Wirkoff's latest chummy chat with Putin.
But then it turned dark, literally as the sun went down, but Ukraine looks to have had the better of the drone exchanges.
Catch up here:
1/2 The big story since the last couple of hours of y'day's thread has been Ukraine's multiple successes in breaching Russia's air defence at military targets.
The Kremlin says it destroyed 93 drones, 60 over the Black Sea. There's no mention of how many they missed!
Exhibit A:
Even the most ardent peaceniks are realising one side doesn't want to stop fighting. At least until, as a state new agency said recently, all Ukrainians are killed.
Each + every day you'll find all the news here in one handy🧵
Let's go!
If you missed anything of yesterday's developments, well not as much to catch up on.
Click the link to review, things only really started going late at night..
Trying to compile threads on a train, using mobile only so far, is a nightmare. My first typo was rather important. It's Day 1256, so the observant don't need to message me 😊
Family day out today, going to see "Evita"
But always a thread and as up to date as I can be.
"White rabbits" is what I have to say to you this morning.
An old British custom is to say 'rabbits' or 'white rabbits' (often 3 times) at the start of a new month to ensure good luck for the month ahead
August is the 43rd month of Russia's war.
Today is Day 1255. Here's the🧵
Yesterday was a depressing day.
Not just Russia's horrific attacks on Kyiv, but the general lack of response and condemnation. The world just shrugs its shoulders.
2 weeks ago I said things could move quickly on air defence. One system had reportedly already been delivered to Ukraine
Remember Switzerland's order was bumped down to give priority to🇺🇦?
Now Germany says 2 more Patriots will be sent by October, starting with launchers in days
Putin's response was to bomb the cr*p out of Ukraine's capital again overnight.
It's decency against inhumanity. Which side are you on?
Welcome to THE daily thread.
Wednesday was a fairly quiet day, punctuated by the odd Russian missile attack, before another enormous attack centre on Kyiv.. and it's still going on.
But Ukraine hit back in Russia.
Missed anything? Click and scroll, but please come back!
Tuesday 29 July. Day 1252.
Documenting all the important stories and developments in Ukraine's ongoing fight for survival against an invading horde.
Every Single Day. No break, no days off.
All the news from the war in Europe, all the time.
Monday was probably a better day for Ukraine.
We saw Trump appear to lose patience with indicted war criminal Putin, we saw a Ukraine flag replanted in one reclaimed village & late in the thread more strikes on Russia's rail infrastructure.
I'll begin in Rostov region, where earlier Ukraine hit railway infrastructure in the town of Salsk.
Pretty much the whole of the rail network in Rostov oblast is crucial to Russia's military. The proximity to occupied parts of Ukraine & the route to Crimea run through here.
