Overall, NSABB is calling for very significant expansion of review & regulation of research on pathogens with #pandemic potential, GOF, DURC, #vaccine R&D -- both inside the USA & worldwide.
Several scientists addressing NSABB live right now are warning that the tough regulations they seek to impose on pathogens research could eliminate the ability to know what viruses are endangering people, what they are and how to stop them.
In the feedback section of this meeting many prominent scientists and public health leaders labelled the new NSABB scheme as over-regulation that will stifle research and slow down our ability to respond to new #epidemics & #pandemics . Their reactions are earnest.
