Hello and welcome to day 349 of #Russia's war of choice.
#Ukraine still defends valiantly, but the west's tardiness to act has placed them under severe pressure for the next 6 weeks until trained troops return with some new toys.
All the news in one thread, read on...
First the link to yesterday in case you were busy or just want a summary.
A lot of flim flam was written but actually you missed very little. Here's one of the shortest threads of the last 11 months so far:
The clock is ticking if #Russia is to meet #Putin's 25th "deadline" (that's a guess, don't take me literally)
The little man with a big anger issue is clearly intent on taking all of Donbas before the anniversary, or 1 March latest.
British intel doesn't think they'll do it.
Absolutely insane losses and a new record today.
These are only #Ukraine's estimates, but everyone at the front we hear from concurs #Russia just sends wave after wave of meat to attack, with zero regard for human life.
OVER 1,000 dead in one day, big equipment numbers too.
#Russia's campaign to ensure bomb shelters are available across the nation has silently been underway for months according to the Moscow Times.
Nizhny Novgorod alone is spending 50m rubles on updating shelters.
A photo from #Kharkiv oblast where #Russia shelling hit a hospital in Vovchansk, #Chuhuiv district overnight. 8 people were evacuated from the bomb shelter there.
In the #Kupiansk area, two 5-storey residential buildings were hit along with a private house and farm buildings.
#Ukraine's southern command, which monitors movement in the Black Sea, reports that all #Russia's missile carriers have returned to port.
Press Centre spokeswoman Nataliia Humenyuk says it's due to weather conditions.
Today's chapter comes from #Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
What a shame to see another oil refinery on fire!
Local officials say the cause is still unknown!
I missed this yesterday. There's no proof this happened and you'd normally class it as certain propaganda. But then you realise #Russia has done just as bad things, so it could also be true.
#Ukraine's defence forces have shot down another plane of #Russia's air force.
It happened near #Bakhmut when Border Guards with MANPADS hit the Su-25 attack jet. This is supposedly the scene of the plane crashing. It's not known what happened to the pilot.
In occupied #NovaKakohvka a transformer caught light.
The cause is unknown. #Ukraine has accused #Russia of repeatedly shelling the town it controls in a bid to force the local population to move to Russia.
The further Russification of #Ukraine's lands continue. Any wonder Ukraine has been removing all traces of past links with Russia anywhere that freedom still exists?
#Russia's losses in the last 24 hours (estimated by Kyiv) show very little equipment destroyed but still insane amounts of conscripts and mobilised soldiers killed.
Welcome to Thurday's Daily Thread covering #Russia's war on #Ukraine
We've reached Day 344 of the conflict which Putin said would be over in 10 days, and which would have ended long ago had the current western support started 10 months ago.
But it's another bad start to the day
A fairly quiet Wednesday ended with more death with a terrorist attack on the eastern city of #Kramatorsk in the #Donetsk region.
An update on that in the next tweet, but if you missed anything, here's the link for yesterday's thread:
#Russia's terrorist attack on #Kramatorsk has left 3 dead and 21 now known to be injured (the total's just been updated).
A short while ago the local council released this video detailing the 1 February attack and ending with the words "we will overcome everything together🇺🇦"
Thanks for reading the start of yet another daily thread documenting the news + crimes of #Russia's invasion of #Ukraine
Wednesday represents Day 343 of the conflict.
If you have the ability to support me, feel free to buy me a coffee (link in bio), but these threads remain free
A busy day yesterday - I will repost soon about the scandalous actions of Russia's gymnastics team.
But lots more news too, including a late announcement from the US of more military aid.
Catch up on everything that happened Tuesday right here:
I am hoping this starts a campaign to not only get the seemingly Soviet loving @gymnastics (cc @BritGymnastics) to change its stance, but also the whole @Olympics movement.
