Day 419 of the war in Europe.
#Russia's illegal war & full invasion of #Ukraine.
The day Bunker Boy emerged from his Kremlin bunker!

Yesterday was very interesting with Wagner troops confessing war crimes, more Russian fires, collaborators + more, here⬇️

The scale of the war is difficult to comprehend for those living far away. But @SkyNews brings it to life with this report.

15% (381) of all education establishments in #Ukraine have been damaged or destroyed by #Russia in the first year.

#Russia's President Putin (or at least a lookalike) has appeared in #Ukraine's Occupied Territories.

He is said to have flown into #Kherson region to visit the "Dnepr" Command of troops and then taken a helicopter to the "East" Command in #Luhansk.

#RussiansGoHome
Britain's update concentrates on #Bakhmut', which still holds, but the MoD in London says #Russia is making "creeping advances"

#StandWithUkraine Image
Much lower figures today as #Ukraine publishes the daily losses suffered by #Russia in the last 24 hours of the war. Still another 470 Russian families will be grieving at some point in the future when they realise their relative won't be coming home.

#StopRussia Image
Yesterday I reported on the Governor of #Bryansk in #Russia describing how they'd foiled a border crossing by #Ukraine, implying soldiers tried to attack

Turns out it was a man on a bike! Unfortunately he died when hitting a mine.

#Kherson has come under "massive fire" this morning.

At least six people are injured while some locals say there are dead, but that's not confirmed.

#RussiaIsATerroristState
First video from #Kherson where at least six are wounded in heavy shelling.

Most badly hit seems to be the market in the centre.
Here someone films as they try to flee one strike which shattered glass, but explosions continue as they move away.

#Egypt has reportedly agreed to supply Ukraine with 152mm and 155mm shells.

A blow to #Russia, but it's likely Egypt is carefully playing both sides.
A drone appears to have fallen in occupied #Donetsk this morning.

This video's been published showing the UAV near school number 57 in the Kyivskyi district of the city.

#DonetskIsUkraine
Pictures emerge from heavy attacks by #Russia on #Sloviansk (RU: #Slavyansk) in the early hours of this morning.

Attack drones & rockets damaged 5 high-rise buildings, 7 houses, a security facility, a medical facility plus entertainment and business centres.
No casualties. ImageImageImageImage
Three civilians have been killed by #Russia's airstrikes in #Luhansk.

This house in the village of Novoiehorivka was hit. This is about 20km SW of #Svatove, close to the state border with #Kharkiv oblast. Image
Despite rains easing, more water from upstream means large areas of #Kyiv region are now under water.

Flooding has caused widespread damage in 3 regions of #Ukraine in the past week.

#StandWithUkraine Image
#Kherson update.

The death of one person has been confirmed after the shelling of the city centre market in Kherson.

The local governor says 7 others were injured.
#RussiaIsATerroristState ImageImageImage
President #Zelenskyy visited the front line in #Avdiivka.

The visit came hours after news of Putin's supposed visit to occupied regions, which many think was recorded at the weekend.

Avdiivka is a real hot-spot, being the closest #Ukraine held area to Donetsk and Horlivka. Image
Another investigation after a new video emerged of a Commander in #Ukraine's army hitting a subordinate.

This was filmed on 26 March in #IvanoFrankivsk
Absolutely zero surprise that #Russia rejected the appeal of @WSJ journalist @evangershkovich at a sham court hearing in #Moscow.

#Ukraine has urged the President of #Brazil to come and see for himself the truth.

"Lula" recently criticised the U.S. and the EU for seeking war not peace and alleged the war was because of "decisions made by two countries."

Peace is easy - #RussiansGoHome, problem solved Lula
More leaflets being distributed in occupied #Enerhodar, urging people to evacuate their children to Crimea.

The evacuation itself is scheduled for May 5-7 according to #Russia's invaders.

Fears of the counter-attack? Stealing more children? Or both?

#StopRussia Image
Local officials in #Irkutsk denied there was a cemetery for those killed in the war, but local journalists have found the secret burial sites.

Some relatives had been searching for their dead loved ones and only now can they grieve.

#Poland, perhaps under pressure from the #EU has agreed to end the ban on imported grain from #Ukraine.

Warsaw has agreed to end the embargo in just over 3 days, on Thursday night.

#StandWithUkraine
#Russia is banned from Basketball at the Paris Olympics.

@FIBA has stuck to its guns and continued to refuse to allow the Russians to participate because of the country's illegal war. So Russia will miss the qualifiers and cannot go to next years #Olympics.

#StandWithUkraine
Well done 'Fellas'

Less than a week ago I reported this.
Now Pernod Ricard has accounced, because of the threat of a boycott, it is withdrawing Absolut Vodka from the Russian market.

#Ukraine claims it has shot down all 7 drones fired by #Russia in #Zaporizhzhia oblast tonight.

6 #Iran made kamikaze "Shahed" UAVs were hit by Ukrainian air defence.

#StopRussia
It's reported tonight that at least one Patriot air defence system is already in #Ukraine

#Germany has officially handed over the US made system along with the missiles.

With a range of 160km, this equipment can go a long way to ending #Russia's air superiority.
#SaveUkraine
⚡️Breaking⚡️
A drone hits an Enlistment Office in the #Bryansk oblast of #Russia.

Regional governor Aleksandr Bogomaz immediately said a #Ukraine UAV attacked the Military Commissariat of #Novozybkiv. Windows were broken but no injuries.

Are they sure it's not angry Russians?

Day 1201 of Europe's war.
But the pre-conflict hybrid war has already been waging worldwide for years. Hacking, election interference, sabotage - we're all targeted by Russia, even if we don't all realise it yet.

Ukraine can stop the war criminal with our help.
Welcome to the🧵
Maybe Sunday will bless Ukraine with a quiet day?

Saturday was another full-on journalistic stint, catching sleep when I could.
Kharkiv shattered overnight then a daytime attack on a kids' railway.
Operation Web 2.0 & a factory hit in Russia.
It's all ⬇️

Early this morning, just before the end of the previous thread I showed the Azot chemical plant in Tula region on fire.
Not long afterwards, Ukraine hit another facility, this time in Russia-controlled 🇺🇦

This is the Hydromash factory in Melitopol' in occupied Zaporizhzhia.

Welcome to yet another daily thread covering all things Ukraine and Russia.

It's Day 1195 and the day of the latest talks between the sides in Istanbul.

But all the buzz is still about one of the most incredible and successful military attacks ever, and Russia is hurting.
Ukraine's astonishingly well planned, daring and audacious attack is front page news around the world this morning.

If somehow you don't know what I am writing about, you're in for a treat. Re-live the extraordinary day by scrolling through Sunday's🧵⬇️

First important news from Poland where the Presidential election has been won by the anti-EU, anti-Ukraine candidate, right-wing Nawrocki

Despite gaining under than 51% of the vote, the tRUmp-aligned Nawrocki can now veto any legislation passed by @donaldtusk & the liberal govt Image

Day 1194 of Putin's war, though let's remember the initial invasion came 11 years ago.

Since February 2014, not once have western sanctions or military support come close to being enough to restore justice and defeat evil.

Welcome to THE daily 🇺🇦 thread for Sunday 1 June
A new day, a new season. Summer officially started, but nothing is likely to change just yet.

Y'day's thread had some great stories, but everything paled into insignificance when justy before midnight came news of a disaster in Russia's Bryansk region:
1/5
I want to start with events in Bryansk region.
What's happened is a tragedy even if you believe all Russians are partly to blame for the war.

7 people died - five passengers on a train and 2 in a truck. 69 were injured.

The lorry crashed down when the bridge collapsed.

Another night of no sleep yet - dramatic action in Moscow.

Time to start another daily thread covering everything to do with Putin's disastrous 'operation' in Ukraine.

It's 5am in Russia and Ukraine, on Day 1190 of the war.
Let's begin...
I've still NEVER missed even one day since the start of Russia's full invasion.

But yesterday's thread ended up being one of the most lively. Another near 50-post story of the day, and if you like seeing "bavovna" in Russia, go right through to the end!
1/3
Russia says 33 drones have been shot down approaching Moscow during the night.

The biggest incident is clearly this at the Mikron micro-electronics plant in Zelenograd, in Moscow oblast...

Hello again and welcome to the daily thread for Day 1189 of Russia's illegal war.

While media keep hinting Trump may be about to impose sanctions on Putin's regime, there's still evidence to say he hates Zelenskyy more.

All the news from and about Ukraine in one🧵right here:
As always though, in case you missed anything yesterday, blow is the link to the start of Monday's thread

So if you don't have much time online, just bookmark my profile page and you can always go back to where you left off for a summary of all the news
A much quieter night, but Russia still fired 60 drones into Ukraine. Air Defence managed to stop 43 (35 shot down and 8 disabled via EW)

But that still leaves 17 which made it through, at a very high strike rate of 28%

Good morning on Day 1176 of the war in Europe.
In my opinion, Ukraine should have won this war in 2022/23.

Effective leadership is based on good, decisive decisions. Sadly, the allies have never been decisive, preferring dithering and half measures.

Welcome to my daily thread:
What I mean by dithering is endless internal political battles in most countries to give adequate weapons. Scholz (Taurus), Biden (everything) the most obvious examples, though Joe was hampered by Congress and is way better than now

But it's always enough to survive, not to win
If you missed anything from yesterday, catch up with this link to the start of yesterday's thread. Scroll down to where you got to and complete your knowledge!
