Welcome to your daily thread for Sunday, the final day of April.

All the news from, and about #Ukraine, in one handy place, updated throughout the day.

Lots of late news yesterday with explosions in #Russia - you can catch up here:

A quiet start to the day and I don't "pad out" the thread with inconsequential stories.

But I know a lot of people like to see the daily losses for #Russia (published by #Ukraine). But even here we see much lower numbers in the last 24 hours.

#RussiansGoHome Image
The British update outlines to a wider audience a practice which has been increasingly employed by #Russia in #Ukraine.

That's punishment of their own soldiers (please note this is the regular army. Wagner can just shoot or sledgehammer you.

#StopRussia Image
There seems to be an uptick in shelling by #Russia at a few places along the frontline.

The #Ukraine governor of #Donetsk region says #Kramatorsk #Vuhledar #VelikaNovosilka #Avdiivka and #Kostiantynivka were all hit in the last 24 hrs.

Here you can see some of the consequences: ImageImageImageImage
Outspoken Igor Girkin, aka Streltsov, slatms both #Russia's army + #Wagner for "being unable to do almost anything in winter and spring."

One of the main figures in #Moscow's original 2014 invasion of #Donetsk, Girkin also confirms Russia's had to retreat again around #Avdiivka ImageImage
As it's quiet here's a story from #Russia that's interesting!

#India's Narcotics Control Bureau says it busted an international drug cartel in Goa. Two Russians were arrested, one reported to be 59yo Svetlana Varganova who was a silver medalist in breaststroke at 1980 Olympics.
Two of #Russia's top 3 artistic gymnasts have accepted an invitation to watch the forthcoming military parade in #Moscow.

Their coach Valentina Rodionenko says Vladislava Urazova and Viktoriya Listunova will sit in the VIP section, near Putin, glorying in the death of Ukrainians
Another top-level sacking by #Putin among the military.

Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev (pic) had been Dep Min of Defence, responsible for logisitics of the armed forces, since September.

He's quietly been replaced by Colonel-General Alexei Kuzmenkov.

Two people suffered slight injuries after shelling of #Kherson.

8 shells were fired by #Russia into the city which was liberated a little over 7 months ago.

Nice to see the real flag of free #Belarus again!
Good turnout in #London in what was basically an anti-Lukashenka rally.

Seen in #Moscow:
"Our President" written on a photo of #Ukraine's Head of Defence Intel Kyrylo Budanov.

Other posters in #Russia's capital simply ask "How's it going?"

Well, after 431 days of the 10-day war, not very well it seems for the invaders! ImageImageImageImage
A 58 year old woman has died in #Kherson as a result of #Russia's shelling.
The local governor says "the enemy directly aimed at a residential building" in #Tyahynka.

In #Bilozerka, a 29 year old man is undergoing emergencu surgery after severe chest injuries during shelling. ImageImage
A new mural has been painted in #Irpin on the outskirts of #Kyiv

Irpin saw fierce fighting early in the war and held #Russia at bay. #Bakhmut does the same now.

Cities of strong people - playing on the word sil (salt) with Bakhmut and Soledar being the centre of salt production ImageImageImage
Residents of #Kramatorsk reported hearing around 10 explosions overnight but there were no confirmed reports from #Ukraine's authorities.

A local TG channel showed these photos of where the attacks were. #Russia now claims they destroyed 200 tons of ammunition.
#SaveUkraine ImageImage
New photos from the remains of #Mariinka, which #Russia has been trying to capture for 9 years.

What they can't get they destroy. Nothing changes.

One person died and two are injured after heavy shelling of #Nikopol.

The person who died was 48 years old, while an 80yo man and a 46yo woman were wounded in the town in #Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

The council says #Russia hit 6 high-rise buildings and 6 private houses." ImageImage
A TG channel in #Russia which specialises on jails and prisoners, says recruitment of criminals is breaking all records

Here's the translation of the post as desperation inside the Kremlin does seem to be growing and the massive advertising campaign not having much effect so far Image
Explosions tonight in #Pavlohrad in #Dnipropetrovsk region.

There was an air raid alert. The news was confirmed by mayor of Pavlohrad, Anatoliy Vershina.

Did you have a busy Sunday and miss something?
Here's a chance to catch up on what you missed, such as more attacks on #Ukraine, another sacking by #Putin and partisans in #Moscow plus more...

#StandWithUkraine
The Intel update from London today talks about defences and optics. For me the last sentence is very important.

Because it happens seldom in free countries, many "Russia experts" forget the lengths and expense Putin will go to just to fool the people.

#Crimea has been illegally occupied by #Russia since 2014. It was the very start of this war, far predating the full invasion 14 months ago.

But the Occupiers are getting worried. Overnight an oil depot was set on fire when a drone hit Kozachi Bay. No injuries reported: ImageImageImage

It's Day 429 of the war and more civilians have died in #Russia's latest indiscriminate attack.

Yesterday I made a typo - it was Day 428 and not 427.

If you missed anything on Thursday, catch up right here:

At least three people are dead and 8 injured when cruise missiles hit a city previously almost untouched by the war..

#Russia's barrage at around 04:00 this morning saw two rockets land in #Uman in central #Ukraine.
A large apartment block was hit and some warehouses nearby.

Welcome along to my daily thread with everything you need to know about #Russia's illegal invasion of #Ukraine.

Wednesday is Day 427.
If you missed y'day's news, no fear, the link is here!

And what a day with loads of stories, particularly #RussiaOnFire

26 April is also the anniversary of the #Chornobyl #Chernobyl disaster in #Ukraine.

The repressive Soviet occupiers of the time refused to admit a problem and even forced kids in #Kyiv on to the streets a few days later for the MayDay parade.

Very little to report today on #Russia's losses of the last 24 hours (as estimated by #Ukraine)

Broadly in line with recent days.

Day 426 of #Russia's needless and disastrous full invasion and war in #Ukraine.

A reasonably quiet start to Tuesday 25 April.
Need a quick recap of yesterday's news? Click below:

#StandWithUkraine

The level of #Russia's losses in the last 24 hours remains in line with recent days. Another 690 killed in #Ukraine and we remain on course for 200,000 in mid-May.

Also note a very large 31 vehicle/fuel tanks.

#RussiansGoHome Image
British Intel today comments on the figures. They are slightly behind the 8-ball because as readers here will know, the trend is slightly up again. But yes, down from the insane numbers when #Russia was launching non stop attacks with cannon fodder.
