A piece of advice: you are a lot more than what you do, so don't let that get in the way of who you want to be.
Placing one's value on what we do is a quintessentially American idea (e.g., "I AM a Designer")
But in reality, what you do is only informed by who you are, and changing what you do doesn't always change who you are.
In the past, I've been unhappy with a job because it doesn't reflect in me the person I want to be
But once I dug deeper and treated the job as a means to an end (literally) the rest is cleared for who I really want to be.
Removing my identity from the job, lets me focus on the outcomes; i.e., money, security, intellectual stimulation, etc.
I ask myself which outcomes I'm getting out of this job, and maybe that'll illuminate different ways to achieve the others.
If what I need is money, I have no qualms about grabbing a job at McDonalds to get money, and then look for other outcomes somewhere else.
This attitude has helped me remove the stigma behind a job —e.g, I drive people in my car to make extra money, I'm not 'an Uber driver'
I mean, the ideal is to be economic with our time and find one source for everything we want...
...but the path there is not always straightforward and there is some freedom in letting go.
You're likely already valuable to the people around you (and the world at large) even if you work at a job that is not totally satisfying
Your "responsibility" is only to be self aware about what you're getting out of it, and act accordingly - nothing else.
