Interesting how some people think that decolonizing science&academia basically means/they take it as they're gonna get Reverse Colonized 😐
It's like your whole discipline has white fragility now? because not only is it as if your concept of self has extended to your field-
as though it is now whiteness itself-as in, any collaboration is somehow diluting or bowdlerizing the 'purity' of your discipline
As if your field is built on the idea that anything outside itself is always wrong, and if anyone else is ever right, then boom! obliterated

It is a very white/western binary sort of mindset: that if we look outside or decenter one method, there goes the bathwater and the baby.
someone this morning said, "decolonization is retesting everything since the British Empire and nothing else til its done." as a criticism
The missing concept that apparently goes completely over their heads? COOPERATION. y'know. working together towards a shared goal?
it's like, all they can imagine is hierarchy. domination. force. no one gets anything unless it is wrested from someone else's grasp.
Also, the shocking amount of people who "don't understand" the diff. between cultural appropriation and cultural sharing. missing concept?
CONSENT. that's like, this way-far-out-there ridiculous fantasy idea for them. That the "Other" has the capacity to say "yes" or "no".
And so goes their conceptualization of "decolonizing", that's it's basically just Reverse Colonization with someone else On Top this time.
Somehow incapable of understand that no...it's a different WAY of doing things. But all some ppl can understand is +
Hierarchy. Binary. Only one thing can be true. Only one thing can be important. Only one comparison can me made. Someone Has To Win.
