Once Irma hits, just as with previous disasters, there will be a lot of fake shit going around. Here are a few to look out for:
1) sharks. There are a series of pictures of sharks in urban locations which turn up every time, like this one
That one's actually from a spread in Africa Geographic, as Snopes has pointed out snopes.com/photos/animals…
Here's a couple more to look out for that seem to always do the rounds 
Then there's stills from movies, sometimes photoshopped to look more plausible. This was shared during Hurricane Sandy...
...but is actually from the movie The Day After Tomorrow
This startling picture of Houston airport, shared during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey...
...is actually a mock-up 'what it could look like' picture from this 2013 article about climate change

Then there are political images. This, purporting to show Obama during Harvey is actually from 2 years ago
Anyone can fall for these. Katie Couric shared this during Harvey - but the pic, while real, is from April
to her credit, she did admit her mistake
AFAIK the same can't be said for Fox News's Jesse Watters, who managed to fall for several hoaxes in one go
A much more malignant hoax spreads rumours of looting. Trolls have used fake hashtags #HarveyLootCrew, #BaltimoreLootCrew and #SandyLootCrew

Anyway. There are loads more, and there are going to be new ones we haven't seen yet during Irma, you can be certain of that
You can never guarantee that you won't fall for something like this. I certainly have; I fell for the sharks during Sandy. Lesson learned.
