In case you missed it... There is a political party trying to take over the Calgary Public School Board. They say slate, but it's a party.
How do we know it's a party? It's got a party platform - with clearly poll-driven policies. Literally the issues with the best poll numbers.
How else do we know its a party? The former Executive Director of the PC Party is organizing the whole thing.
This political party has the money connections from the PC and Wildrose parties. They have slick ads, a slick website.
The political party has WAY more money than the independent candidates. Conservative party connections sure help with that part.
It's dangerous to have political parties running in the School Board election. The party isn't on the ballot!
And finally... because the party is run by far-right conservatives... they HATE unions. They don't even seem to know why.
That's why they talk about unions ALL the time. Weird, considering there are no local issues that relate to unions? It's party group think!
The irony... they have WAY more money than other candidates because of big money connections. yet, they talk about getting rid of big money!
Here's a fun question... Ask your political party candidate ("Students Count" is the party's name) how money they have raised.
Our school board system isn't perfect, but if anyone thinks bringing in political parties can fix it... wait, who would actually think that?
Political parties bring division, anger, over-the-top rhetoric... and worse, group think. You will no longer have a local representative.
