This is where I grew up. I knew white people who talked like this around me bc I'm white. Now they're unashamed to advertise their bigotry.
I was involved in the Indian community in Edison and they were nothing but kind and welcoming. Fuck Trump for emboldening these monsters.
My best friend in HS was Pakistani. She told me recently that after Trump won her son came home from FIRST GRADE crying because another
little boy told him that Trump was going to deport him and his parents and his baby brother. My friend was born in America.
In case you thought this was in the South or something, it's not. It's in central Jersey a 40 minute train ride from NYC.

Reminder that Jews for Jesus is a Christian organization created to aggressively proselytize among Jews.

This often involves harassing Jews in Jewish spaces.

Some bizarre experiences I have had with them are threaded below.

A note that they have various different subgroups ("Messianic Jews" is along the same lines) and their tactics might also be different country to country, I did not ask all of them which exact denomination they belonged to.

They heavily recruit in Eastern Europe. Right now probably more heavily than in the US, today's events notwithstanding.

Actual Jewish organizations are also heavily active in Eastern Europe, bc we went through many years of state-mandated atheism in recent history.

Since I have some new followers, I guess it's time I do an intro thread.

Hello everyone! I'm Guinevere. I grew up as a military dependent for 18 years, moved around every 3 years and settled in Alabama thanks to my dad. I was raised fundigelical (Fundamentalist Evangelical) 1/
and slowly began leaving that world in 1999, when I graduated.

The church that my parents attended at that time was very abusive in many ways, and I tried to leave as best as possible. Unfortunately, my parents ascribed to the Stay at Home Daughter movement, as well as 2/
other very patriarchal/quiverfull ideology.

The only way to leave was to get a job that took me elsewhere or get married.

I decided to work, even if that mean overtime and horrible hours, as long as it kept me out of the home as much as possible 3/

First, thank you for all the RT, likes, and kind comments on my thread yesterday. It was a quick look at my life growing up.

For anyone curious, I reconnected with my bio family when I was 26. It was incredibly awkward at first.
I experienced huge culture shock. I grew up in Alberta and had never experienced the culture, climate or the traditional food.

I'll never forget my first meal at my Nanuk's. It was a caribou head. It was baked and served in front of me. I had no idea what to think.
I wasn't sure if this was a practicle joke, or if they were seriously wanting me to eat this. It wasn't until my 5 year old niece said "Oh! Caribou head!" and dug in without any qualms or questions. My pride took over. If a 5 year old girl could eat this, so could I.

I grew up on welfare. When people talk about "welfare mothers" and "let's drug test them all because they must be cheats," I hear the world's worst "your mom" joke beginning.
I can say a lot of things about how we wound up on welfare. I shouldn't have to: not only were they my mother's choices, not mine or my sisters, but we have a SOCIETY.
