1/ Here are my proposed steps.

2/ While not a clone of the 2nd amendment situation, I can't, for example, shout "FIRE!" in a crowded theater.

4/ Since the 2nd amendment talks about well regulated militia, so that states may defend themselves from a future oppressive federal gov't,
5/ Start there with the conversation. Define what constitutes a "well regulated militia." That can serve a protective purpose.
6/ Then define what, of those rights, bleed through to the non-militia members homes.
7/ Define what kind of armaments they may own, and under what circumstances. Also define how its tracked. Hold vendors accountable too.
8/ If vendors aren't abiding by their laws, then punish them. I mean the humans, not the corporations. Send their decision makers to jail.
9/ Make all of the people involved in the sale of the weapons accountable for any misuse. These things are designed to kill.
10/ Medications, which while VERY dangerous when misused, aren't designed to kill. We, rightfully, have very stringent rules regarding their

12/ Get rid of the prohibition on letting the NIH research gun violence using disease models. That's just willful ignorance. It costs lives.
13/ Revoke gun licenses early and often if there's a red flag. Settling a civil rights violation for a mistake costs $$.
14/ The outcome of being too lax costs lives. We see it over and over and over. It's god awful sickening.
15/ In short congress needs to stop playing ostrich and start acting. Yeah manufacturers and the NRA will be upset. Boo fucking hoo.
16/ This is about keeping our fellow Americans alive. This is not about someones ideology or profit margin.
17/ We have enough evidence to show that more guns haven't stopped this problem. Those who disagree are lying or seriously ignorant.
