So I’ve kind of been sitting back today watching all of the news regarding Moore, Louis CK, and the rehashing of various other cases. Mostly it’s been the reactions blowing my mind, quite honestly. 1/
Like, what in the name of all that is good and holy is happening here:
Or here:

Or here. “I really don’t see the relevance of it,” Alabama Marion County GOP chair says regarding Roy Moore trying to make a 14 year-old girl touch his genitals. Is this real life? 4/

I’m encouraged by so many women coming forward.. I’m also angry, I’m sad, and it’s hard to find the words to convey exactly how I feel not just about this, but about the lack of worth our society puts on women as a whole. It comes down to this: Women need to matter. 5/
I remember when the Chelsea King case broke, I researched John Albert Gardner to find that he had molested a child & violated his parole 7 times before killing Chelsea and Amber. I thought to myself for the millionth time “why aren’t predatory men taken seriously?” 6/
Case after case, many predatory men walk away with a slap on the wrist, and then they’re off to prey upon more women. They escalate, and then after leaving a trail of victims behind them we *finally* say “Oh, they shouldn’t have been free.” Yet barely any changes made. 7/
Then we see that 54% of mass shooters have a history of abusing women, and the active records in the NICS database show a horrific number of domestic abusers aren’t added to the very database our abusers slip through to buy guns. 8/
“Oops, a slip in the system.”

Now it feels like every day we see men in power taking advantage of women and hear “Why didn’t they tell sooner?” & “NOT ALL MEN” & “Now that I have a daughter.” 9/
The inability to fully empathize w/women outside of an intimate relationship is okay? If that’s a starting point, great, but use it as an apology, not an excuse. As a LESSON, not an excuse. Encourage fellow men & raise your sons to care about this issue w/o a qualifier. 10/
Moving on: Then when 4 victims come forward on record after being preyed upon by Roy Moore, Republican voters mull over whether voting for a pro-choice man is as bad as voting for a SEXUAL PREDATOR. How sick is that? I mean, HOW SICK IS THAT? 11/
I could go on, and on, and on. So what do women need? Do we need more manly men to step up and protect us? Do we need your pity? Do we need to hear about how you finally empathize with women b/c you have a daughter?

No. 12/
We need to matter. Not because we’re someone’s daughter, sister, wife, or dog groomer. We need to matter because we’re human beings.

We need to matter enough to stop you from helping a sexual predator make it to the White House. 13/
We need to matter enough that it's imperative in your mind that your sons AND daughters don't see you supporting sexual predators b/c of their party affiliation.

We need to matter enough to make you put our well being above your political friends. 14/
We need the testimony of FOUR WOMEN to matter as much as the denial of one man.

We need the people of this country to care about keeping guns out of the hands of ALL abusers, &we need you to spare us your “but muh guns” arguments that have nothing to do w/our request. 15/
Can't say this one enough: We need the people of this country to put aside their toxic tribalism and stop voting for sexual predators, and stop acting like a Dem who supports abortion is just as bad. 16/
We need to matter enough to make politicians who dare support these predators in their own party feel scared for their careers. You can stop playing apologist for those enablers too, thanks. I know that’s most of an entire Party, but alas, it’s kinda the right thing to do. 17/
We need men to start listening and stop downplaying abuse/assault/and harassment. Before you publish that tweet really mull it over, fellas. 18/
We don’t need to hear your “I’d pound his face in” diatribes, They're worthless. We need you to care enough to stop voting for men who make you mull over how you’ll justify voting for them despite their history as a pedophile and sexual predator. 19/
Pretty simple: It’s wasn’t locker room talk, it’s not consensual SHE WAS 14, it’s not comparable to your teenage proclivities, “oops, he got a gun” isn’t a enough, & no matter how many years have gone by, if someone is abused/raped/harassed/assaulted it’s not irrelevant. 20/
And finally, if all of this is impossible for men in the GOP, just think of abusers/sexual predators like they’re immigrants & refugees. Considering they’re far more dangerous than both of those combined & multiplied God knows how many times, I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
