Seeing some handwringing over Democrats' supposedly failed strategy on the tax bill, but not sure that it's warranted.

"Let's cut taxes for rich people" has been the endgame/organizing principle of the McConnell/Ryan GOP for years. They're willing to run through walls to do it.
What's more interesting is how *little* the McConnell/Ryan GOP care about cutting taxes for middle-class people—and increasingly even upper-middle-class people— either as a policy objective or as a way to make tax cuts for the rich more politically palatable.
The public is noticing this, by the way. The tax bill is quite unpopular, and people don't trust it to cut middle-class taxes despite the GOP's claims that it will.

The broad-based Bush & Reagan tax cuts were fairly popular, by contrast. 53eig.ht/2zPpD1l
