One downside of being an astrophysicist is hearing lyrics like "I am attracted to you like the Sun to the Moon" & involuntarily twitching
I mean yes okay the Sun, having mass, is attracted to the Moon, because it also has mass, but man it's a REALLY weak pull
And then it's like, is this some kind of neg? Is the whole song just using gravitational theory to be like, "you're not all that"
YOU JUST DON'T KNOW, is what I'm saying.
... it's a good song otherwise though
Orbital mechanics side note: when one thing orbits another, they're really both orbiting the point between them where the mass evens out
If one object is WAY more massive, balance point is inside the more massive object. So it'll kinda wobble while the other thing goes around
For most planets orbiting stars, the balance point (barycenter) is inside the star. But not for Jupiter & the Sun: spaceplace.nasa.gov/barycenter/en/
So anyway, yeah, the Sun barely notices the Moon, gravitationally.

That doesn't mean they can't still be good friends though.
