Good morning, Twitter. I'm wondering if among my followers there is a Chilean woman space fan?

I ask because I've just read the book that comes with the new space-themed American Girl doll, Luciana Vega, whose family is from Chile, and it does NOT do representation well. At all.
A center element in Luciana Vega book is that her family wants to adopt a sister from an orphanage in Chile. Basically the only thing a reader "learns" about Chile is that there are orphanages and babies who are sick need to be brought to the US for medical care. This is wrong >
> I just checked, and Chile's infant and under-5 mortality rates are barely higher than US, and maternal mortality rates are *lower* nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… And also Chile is a "regional health care system innovator" nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
Surely the Luciana Vega book could at least have mentioned Chilean astronomy? Or anything about what it means to the kid to be Chilean? There was nothing. I'm so disappointed.
