Well, isn't that a textbook example of a contact binary.
(Contrary to what was just said on the briefing though, this is not the first ever explored contact binary. It's the most pristine one, to be sure. I'll have more on this in a blog post later this morning.)
I'm super interested in the high-albedo area in the neck.
It has a relfectivity of 13% they say -- pretty bright for a Kuiper belt object. In the small lobe, there are two bright spots adjacent to the darkest spots!
