The “grey area” trope that so many men use to excuse their predatory behavior (and that people use to defend them) is why rape culture persists.
Predators know EXACTLY what they’re doing. They know when their partners are uncomfortable. They know what it means when someone pulls away or moves their hands. That’s what’s so insidious about this “grey area” trope.
The thing is - it’s actually *not* a grey area. It’s a clear violation. It’s a deliberate move to manipulate, confuse, and gaslight their victims.
Don’t let predators and apologists use this trope to discredit how you feel. Don’t let them turn your feelings into a “grey area” when you know it’s not.
