to the 150 or so people (WHY?) who have followed me since the last time i did this... i'm going to livetweet a charlottesville city council meeting tonight. if you think of it like a text format episode of parks & rec, it's very fun!

it's a SHORT agenda tonight... but that doesn't mean it's going to be a short meeting. there's going to be a public hearing on proposed changes to the meeting structure. since this summer, there has (obviously) been greater attendance and engagement at these meetings.

a long, but good, look at the current state of our meetings.

and, don't forget, tonight is @NikuyahWalkerCC's first full council meeting as mayor! i'm so excited to see her in that center chair. i can't remember where the game of musical chairs stopped last time, but i hope signer is uncomfortable in his new seat.

the agenda background has bellamy's proposed changes. galvin's public criticism of this plan must've come to light after the agenda was published. nothing will be decided tonight -- it's just a hearing.

i know this section is required for all agenda items, but it just tickles me to see them explain how engaging with the public aligns with the city's goals.
(but "mutual respect" reeks of 'civility.' mutual respect requires empathy & equity, NOT just 'in.co/vHKLWSrtpa
