With Wynne's approval rating barely able to scratch double digits, and with the Liberal party's record of crime & corruption, especially wrt winning at all costs, it wouldn't surprise me if the allegations were nothing more than political assassination, however... #onpoli

If this was orchestrated by the Liberals, I wonder why they wouldn't wait for 2-3 more months to ensure the PC party wouldn't be able to recover. Sure incompetence is a possibility, but when it comes to playing dirty politics the Liberals have plenty of experience. #onpoli

A new conservative party, The Ontario Alliance Party was supposedly going to swallow the PC party, and drain its swamp. The reasons for the new party, I was told was due to corruption under Patrick Brown's leadership, and a dissatisfaction with the lib-lite platform.. #onpoli

Although I was offered to join the party, and was even encouraged to run as an MPP, my main concern was vote-splitting, so I decided to wait & see before I was going to do anything that could potentially help Wynne. Anyways, months went by, and crickets from Alliance.. #onpoli

So I figured the Alliance Party just failed to meet its objectives, perhaps b/c some key MPPs backed out. In any event I haven't given them much thought since, until now. So getting back to my alternative hypothesis.. #onpoli #cdnpoli

What if during the opposition research the Alliance Party discovered the skeletons in Patrick Brown's closet? Wouldn't that be a great opportunity to clean the PC party from the inside, and avoid the risk of vote-splitting?

If I'm right about this, I'd expect a smooth transition as we choose a new leader for the PC party. The transition would also be a great opportunity to drain the PC swamp of anyone else who damaged the conservative brand with Patrick Brown's lack of principles. #onpoli

Whether or not my hypothesis is right, it's important to take this opportunity to reshape the PC platform. So many conservatives feel disenfranchised & unrepresented by Patrick Brown's brand. Leadership change could be the best thing to happen to the PC party & #onpoli

If Patrick Brown is innocent, I hope for his sake that his lawyers do a better job defending him than he did. His inability to stand up for himself is indicative of his weakness as a leader, and proves yet again that he was not the one to stand up for #onpoli
