The scandalous implication of this story is that Andrew McCabe may have sought to follow DOJ protocol governing the conduct of investigations in the days before an election. washingtonpost.com/world/national…
Trump fired Comey for sabotaging Hillary Clinton, purged McCabe for not being willing to sabotage Hillary Clinton. Total coincidence that both men were there when the FBI began investigating the Trump campaign.
Meanwhile, there is radio silence on the FBI officials who leaked sensitive information about the Clinton investigation to Rudy Giuliani, and what role they had in FBI decisions.
Before Trump fired him, Comey testified that he was aggressively investigating those leaks. washingtonpost.com/news/post-poli…
In his supplemental testimony for the record, Pat Leahy asked Wray if he’d commit to picking up where Comey left off.

Wray: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As far as I know that’s the last time that controversy surfaced, and nobody seems to care anymore. But if there’s a real political bias scandal at FBI—one that isn’t simply fabricated to help Trump cover up crimes—that’s where you’ll find it.
Trump may have had multiple motives for firing Comey, the Russia investigation chief among them. But no reason not to wonder whether Comey’s interest in who was feeding sensitive FBI information to the Trump campaign played a role.
