As near as I can tell, what happened is this:

1. The political community took Tucker Carlson's claim that protesters terrorized his family at face value.
2. It was largely fabricated.

3. Carlson has faced and will face no repercussions for fabricating a tale of victimization.

4. My friend @mattyglesias had the temerity to say he didn't particularly empathize with Tucker Carlson's fake tale of woe.
5. Conservative media figures misrepresented Matt's tweets, leading their followers to dox him.

6. So Carlson, a career propagandist, is given benefit of the doubt and faces no consequences for duping everyone (including liberals) about the protest.
7. His allies, also career propagandists, face no consequences for smearing Matt.

8. Matt is driven off Twitter indefinitely for having what turns out to be a faithful and clear-eyed view of the situation.
9. So congratulations to everyone who uncritically accepted Carlson's fabrications, who've gone silent now that his version of events has been debunked.
Here's more: @ErikWemple visited Carlson's house to check his claim that protesters vandalized his door, and found them totally meritless. washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wem…
