This is the 2nd Pi Day pie that @overdesigned and I have ever shared.

Let me tell you the story of the first one and how it relates to our eventual marriage
We had been dating for about a year, and we had taken the terrifying plunge of moving across the country together. He was very underemployed while waiting to go active duty, so I had the best houseboyfriend as I started a stressful new job
I came home from work on March 14th to find that he had made us a pie for the occasion. Handmade crust, fresh fruit, crimped edges, the whole 9 yards. He had also been daydrinking and was giddy with pride about his pie
We waited impatiently as it cooled. He confessed that his only worry was that the filling might not set right. We waited and waited and finally cut it.... and the filling ran like water
(He had confused the directions that stated the amount of cornstarch per cup of filling, not per pie)
Seeing the failure of his glorious pie, he was so overcome with misery that he just laid down on the floor. Too sad to stand, laying on my floor in his bathrobe and Green Bay Packers sweatpants. It was one of the most adorable things I've ever seen in my life
As I looked at him and tried not to laugh, a thought popped into my head out of the fucking blue: "I could totally marry this guy someday." I could not have been more startled had a stranger stuck his head in the window and yelled those words at me
I had to turn the thought over in my brain to inspect it, like an alien specimen. But on reviewing it I found it to be true, for the first time in my life I could see myself spending forever with someone.
So that was my Pi Day epiphany, brought to me by some runny-ass berry filling and one very sad TurboNerd. I think it's appropriate that we've made the same pie from the same book now, our first married March 14th and the 2nd ever we've spent in the same state <3
