At the Carpenter Center for "An Evening With Terry Crews" stay tuned for live updates!🎉
Crews touched on the difficulty speaking out about sexual assault, saying, "Coming out and saying what happened to you is like trying to fly a plane from LA to NY and you’ve never flown a plane before."
He followed up with, "The thing that’s different about me is I’ve been flying planes my whole life."
"I have always looked at being a minority as an advantage, I look at me and I say 'No one has skin like me, no one has a bald head like me, no one has this scar on my lip like me.' No one looks like me and that’s my advantage," Crews said.
Students have submitted their questions and are waiting for Crews to come out
A constant theme of the night so far has been Crews' transparency about his struggles destroying the idea of toxic masculinity, telling men in the crowd to "kill your pride" and telling women to "get fearless."
"I learned about masculinity the toxic way. One thing you’re taught is that because you’re a man, you’re worth more than a lady. And I thought that’s the way it was," Crews said.
Crews responds to people asking him why he didn't "knock out" the man who assaulted him, to which he responds, "That guy goes to jail, especially if he’s black."
Talking about his experiences since coming out about his case, he said it's opened his eyes.
“Rape culture is real," Crews said. "This is not a witch hunt, it’s a fumigation."

Thought the building was going to collapse with the amount of applause that received.
Crews calls the audience to hope in the face of recent events.
"We’re going to win. We’re never going back," Crews said.
Crews tells the audience "the world is getting better" and to "look in a history book" if you need proof.
"I don't care what happens at the end of this case, I did something about my own situation. You can’t touch me like that. You can’t treat me like that," Crews said.
Q&A session is opening up now, Crews will be taking questions from the audience
When asked about his upcoming role in @Sorry2BotherYou , Crews said, "Y’all ain’t ready, nothing can prepare you for it."
Crews gave @Marvel Black Panther a shoutout, saying it was "unthinkable" when he was a kid.
When asked about his role as an activist: "I feel so honored to lead by example. I want to let people to know that talking to someone you trust and believe in and sharing your trauma will save your life. Don’t hold the shame, it’s not yours."
Crews closes his speech receiving "Terry" chants and a standing ovation from the crowd. Full story on the night will be up shortly!
