Without disputing the specifics of this piece, it might be worth noting that long before Christianity (or a certain strain thereof) bent itself to the needs of slave-holding Southern plantation owners... (1)
It also bent itself to slave-holding Roman emperors, and feudal European nobility. (2)
And before we Jews pat ourselves on the back, slave-holding was absolutely known and practiced among Jews of the rabbinic period (when the seeds of Judaism as we know it today were sown),and so slave-holding inflects our own sexual ethics too... I'll post some sources below. (3)
